Operations

lounge area

I have been busy building my layout hoping to start some operations soon. Having built several layout previously and visited and operated on many more I wanted to incorporate as many of the positives I had seen as possible. The big issues for me ,as usual, were time and space. Being older comfort was important.

Block signals

Has anyone used the  Azatrax TS2 block signal control board. It looks like a good product. I have sent them 2 e-mails trying to get more info but so far no reply. Are they still in business? Any help is appreciated.

Teetering on the Edge of Another Rabbit Hole - Passenger Train Consists

What a fascinating - and frustrating - hobby this is! It offers an amazing amount of depth and breadth - everything from carpentry, electronics, art, scenery, architecture, historical research - but who has the time or money (or either!) to do any more than scratch the surface? The best model railroads balance all these wonderful aspects into a cohesive whole. And almost all model railroads risk teetering off that balance into a rabbit hole . . .

Update: In the last post I said that I think the car usage cycle is like this:

  1. Empty, available for assignment

  2. Empty, but enroute for loading

Surfline Concept Layout & Questions (Freight Ops & planning)

Hi all,

Long post warning. Having read several books / topics / pages on the topic i am a bit stuck so your help will be much appreciated (as always). Trying to do plausible things in a mix of Prototype with some freelance, possibly along the lines of Joe (Fugate) where he did mention  Prototype with capital P and freelance with small f (if i understood the concept correctly).

Marklin HO

You can run 2 Marklin battery trains at a time on the same track.  How can you run 3 or 4 at the same time and control all 3 or 4 separately ? Thanks.
