Calling Ore-Hauling modellers : switching ore grades for transloading
Dear DM&IR and other Ore-Hauler modellers,
A random question if I may. I'm thinking of a DM&IR scene,
an SD9 assigned to shoving mini-quad sets of 22' shorty ore-hoppers up onto the dock(?) for transloading/dumping into an ore boat.
My University Project moves on - Freight Car Routing
I am busy working away on the project. Although it is, supposedly, a software project, the University sees it as a project report. I am expecting to have a working prototype to accord to the the original design once the course ends but the University deliverable is a 10,000 word report. To help me develop this, I have created a blog where I am slowly developing the ideas.
Ops Session Hosting - Pros & Cons
The latest post over at my Valley Local site raises what might be a controversial topic, but I wanted to go there since I'm really interested in hearing and learning from the experiences of others that have been hosting operating sessions for a while.
To what extent do you open your layout for operations? Friends only? Friends of friends? The Whosoever?
details?
The old saying:"The devil is in the details" is certainly true in model railroading Operations. I see many beautifully executed layouts with magnificent scenery, then the illusion is destroyed by: lack of engine crew in the lead unit, no diaphragms on carbody units and passenger cars, too quick movements of the camera, blurred or out of focus segments, the list goes on. Folks go to extraordinary lengths to build really elaborate operating sequences, why not take a little more time and effort to complete the effect?
Switching Video series - C&W's Kraft Switcher
Well, with the recent Railway Modellers Meet of BC (2017) firmly in the rear view mirror, I thought I would post a set of 5 videos I shot to help visitors to the Columbia & Western "manage" the most challenging job on the C&W: the Kraft Switcher.
A long way guest came for one evening of operations on my layout
One of the great things about internet forums is all new interesting and nice model railroad friends you learn to know.
A guest who I come to know on another forum visited me all the way from Germany yesterday. Great fun! We run one full round of operations on my layout and had a lot of fun.

Bachmann DCC Sound S4 Died During Programming - Help?
A couple months ago, I purchased a Bachmann DCC Sound Value S4 to use at my sand pit industry and it ran really well. Then I repainted it, had some issues with it running, but worked on it and it was running great again.
