Realistic water

smileyI found out the hard way, if you don't stir the liquids to make realistic water long enough, when you pour it, it won't set or harden.  I poured a stream 10 months ago and it is very tacky to the touch.  however i found a solution for the problem.  Instead of digging it all up and starting all over again, I have found that you can buy clear epoxy glue.  The kind in the dual plunger reservoir

ProtoThrottle Milestone

Today, we just finished shipping all the ProtoThrottle pre-orders. Thank you to all who ordered, and to the MRH community where this all started. We look forward to seeing where this goes in the future.

The organizers of the Portland, OR RPM just announced on Facebook the date for the 2019 meet. It will be held on Feb. 9, 2019. Location to be finalized, but it sounds like a bigger venue and close to the airport. Mark your calendars, and get those models finished!

Moderators note: It's going to be at the airport Shilo Inn. For more information: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2001136043323501/

CR&N in the 60s (or so)

This is my first post on my Coeur d'Alene Railway and Navigation (CR&N) layout, currently under construction in sunny West Texas.  The layout (see attached plan) is 9 feet by 4.5 feet on two 18 inch shelves.  I built the benchwork from 3/4 birch plywood and mounted it to the walls in my train room.  I used 1 inch foam over 1.4 inch plywood for my decking.  All the track is down, and most is ballasted.  I have got some basic scenery roughed in, and have building low profile buildings for industries.

Brewery Layouts

I know I'm not the only one whose going to do a brewery on a layout. I am curious what tanks and silos you use for your breweries?

Are you just using Farm Silos and Water Tanks? Here's photos of the real deal:

SP McKeen Car #31

I’m repowering and installing DCC sound in an LMB McKeen Car and I’d like to finish it to appear as in the photo on page 244 of Mac Gregor’s South Pacific Coast sitting in front of the Ben Lomond depot circa 1912. Can anyone guide me to realistic modeling paint colors suitable for airbrushing? I have it on good authority fron Fred at the Pasadena Whistle Stop that the body was Pullman Green. The roof and the trucks are in question.

Walthers Brickworks

Did anyone else notice that the "New" brickworks factory is really just Northern Light and Power with a different stock number?

I hate to be this snarky, but I think Walthers needs to step up their drug testing program.

Starting to work on my Pacific Electric interurbans

Today, I sanded down the flash on my Miniatures By Eric Pacific Electric 1100-1149 interurban and 1445-1449 Box Motor. I noticed that I am missing the steps below the freight doors of the freight motor, and it looks like I can use Micro Trains baggage car steps. I have sanded down the flash and I have been working on the castings for the 1100, and plan to start gluing everything into place. I have ordered a pair of Tomix chassis to power these.
