Modeling topic
DEDICATE TO THE N SCALERS - Share your N scale model structure - N scale is a fine scale !
I'm modeling in Nscale.
I would dedicate this topic to N scale and especialy fine structures in N scale.
It's also a show case to illustrate how fun and interesting this scale could be.
Most of the topics on MRH are in HO or bigger scale, but don't forget N scale is the second or third scale used by trains modelers.
It's also because I often see no good reasons or really good arguments against N Scale.
Static Grass Applicator
I am considering on purchasing a static grass applicator. I have found that the two major brands on the market are the Noch Grassmaster 2 and one manufactured by WWS. I would appreciate any recommendations, pro or con on either of these two or if there is even a better one. I have built my own fly swatter applicator. It’s ok for a small area or for short lengths of grass, but I would like one which has more capability without spending unnecessary money.
Crossover Help
Looking for ideas, I have this Double Crossover coming out of my staging yard and need to control it. Ive seen some pictures in the past of people using RC linkage to control the switches, can anybody share with mw how they did it?
A Model Railroad Discord?
Would there be any interest in a model railroad discord. For those that dont know discord is a site that allows chat style talk andthe ability to make your own servers. I would include channels for things most topics but dont want to go and make one and have no one join it. So whdaya all think any interest?
Cass W.Va Company Store dimensions...
Dear MRHers,
By any chance, does anyone happen to know any basic dimensions of the Mower Lumber nee Cass Lumber Company Store building in Cass W.Va? Even a guide window dimension would help. I've poured over both online and hardcopy pics but can't seem to get a guide height or width dimension which syncs-up
- The dimensions of the clipboard planks
- Dimensions of the 2nd and 3rd storey windows
(as compared to various laser-cut and styrene windows in my "modelling warehouse")
- Dimensions of average floor/ceiling height
Stuck in a mental tug-o-war...
So I am currently modeling a protolanced Pacific Electric branch based on the Santa Monica Airline just west of Los Angeles. I live in Casa Grande, AZ, 40 miles south of Phoenix.
I originally started a layout based on the area that I live in, set in the 1980's, but I have backdated my layout to the 1950's and moved it 400 miles west to the Pacific Coast.
gloss coat over primer
I just finnished spraying black primer on a tank car. I like the looks so im thinking of
spraying a clear gloss cote just where the decals go and after the decals dry , spraying the whole car with dull cote. will this work or screw the car up.
Thank you for
O scale structure builds - card, plastic, wood - the cheaper the better!
Hi everyone.
I am currently working on a few layout builds in O and On30 scales, and have been building, scratchbuilding, and kitbashing structures to go with them.
Rather than spread the builds out over multiple layout threads, I thought I'd create a single thread for those interested in seeing what I've been working on.
I mostly work in wood, foamcore and cardstock, with some plastic kits and parts as well.
What is your most prized railroad posession? All RR aspects are welcome.
Something you kit-bashed?
Locomotive (s)?
Rolling stock?
Purchased building (no modifications, as intended)?
Tools that you have found other uses for?
Software programs?
Something you repurposed for your RR?
Charlie
Iron ore haulers
What I'd like to see...
While I understand you might be seperated by a few hundred miles or more, I'd really like to see ya'll get together some how, and write a book on all of the aspects of the subject. The history* of it, the mines, operations, the RR's involved, why you model the portion that you do. There's so much information hiding out there.
*Other than what's on Wikipedia. I'm sure there's more to it than that.
