Glass Insulators: how do you model them, and can you improve it?

Sorry, it's been a long time since I've posted anything. I wanted to make this post because I've recently become a glass insulator collector, and eventually I realized that I might be able to lend some food-for-thought here. See, most people just have simple poles without wires if they even bother with the poles, and they all look identical, full racks of insulators, maybe not even colored like insulators. I saw a article in a MRR magazine by Pelle Søeborg on trackside telegraph poles.

Craftsman Kit

The wood craftsman caboose kit is coming along and, fortunately, I learned a few things before I got started:

1. Read the directions. That's what they're there for.

Building plan eBook size

I am wondering how large the 2 structure ebooks PDF files are. I currently have no house internet and I use my phone for web access. I would like to take advantage of the special price for both ebooks but need to make sure I can download to my phone so I can then transfer them to my computer. Any help in this is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

Bachmann Cylindrical Hopper heavy duty bash-painted & decaled

Like the title says, so far a lot of work has gone into this project. I removed the walk, hatches, end cage, bolsters, reshaped the ends, replaced the top with a IM cylindrical hopper modified top and removed everything that could be removed. As usual, I'm clueless on how to post photos, so maybe our leader will help like he so kindly did on my last post.

Regards, Bobby

Chooch Flexible retaining walls

Has anyone used the Chooch Flexible retaining walls? I am in need of a large retaining wall. Probably about 20 of the Chooch pieces. At $11.00 each, that will be pricey. I would like to know how well the will adhere (to masonite), if they will unstick at the edges and curl up, if they will work with Magic Water or Envirotex for a river abutment and not warp or become distorted. Any help would be appreciated.

Request for photos of East Boston, from Battery Park

I'm looking for an individual to take a set of panoramic photos with an SLR camera, normal perspective/ distance, not zoomed in, from "Battery Wharf" in Boston, Mass., across the harbor toward East Boston.

The left side of the photo set starts at the end of the Coast Guard pier and panned to the right, to about the 3 to 4 O'clock position of the photographers right side. The Photo's will be used as a railroad backdrop for my layout.

BLI refurbished products - experiences?

On the BLI website has a "refurbished outlet store", with some decent deals.

What I am curious about is what would I be ending up with? - a scratch and dent model or bag of parts?

Thanks in advance,

OK, Here Goes. . . .

I have started on a master craftsman kit of a Nickel Plate wood caboose. This is a first for me as I've had this kit for 30 years and have never attempted a "scratch" kit requiring thinking, measuring, cutting. gluing, painting and patience.
