Switching the Ready-Mixed Plant on the Stockyard Industrial Lead

I created a video that displays a very basic operation on my small switching HO Scale layout, serving one of my busiest customers. Usually, the local job switches all customers on the Stockyard Lead industrial spur in one session or day shift for the crew. However, sometimes my shortline will work only one customer if there is enough work involved. In this example, a transfer has brought in some cars for the Ready-Mixed plant and the customer would like to receive them quickly to keep up production for a big job.

Hi all,

A large number of modellers have probably heard of Hamburg's "Miniatur Wonderland", "The Franklin and South Manchester", or The San Diego MRC's displays at Balboa Park in San Diego, where model railroads are on display to the public. Some of these public facing layouts have almost achieved a legendary status as a "must see if in town". These are perhaps some of the better known ones.

I had space in my town for one more business and couldn’t decide what to place there. I asked my wife if she would like to build a Quilt Shop. She thought it would be fun to do with me so the project began. I gave her the Walthers catalog and let her pick a building. The best fit for size on the layout an ability to display items in the shop for people to see, was the cornerstone Hobby Shop model (933-3475). It affords big windows for people to peer in the windows to see what the miniature shoppers are doing in the store.
