Update on the Colorado Front Range Railroad
A little different this time I talk about about how we are going about laying track. I have some question about RR-cirkits watchmen and a few thanks going out to two gentlemen who have help my out on photos the last two weeks.
Here is the link and enjoy.

Progress Update
At the beginning of the month of August, I got stuck with how to wire the LED panels for both the 4 Bluepoint manual turnout controllers and the two panels (one on each side of the peninsula) that I needed for the 2 Tortoise turnout controllers. With the help of several MRH subscribers pointing me in the right direction, I was able to get that task completed as shown in my previous blog posting. This posting will show progress made on the construction of the support structure for the main level of my layout.
Building Control Panels
Several people asked about the control panels we had on our demos at the St. Louis RPM meet. They are easy to make, so I figured I’d share the process.

SMA10 – Build a 17-Function DCC Decoder for about $5
My activities in Scale Model Animation often lead me to use DCC as a control method for sequencing. This could include building and street lights, even sparking welders and twinkling camp fires. Timing can be done with JMRI scripts (Like this: http://youtu.be/RXpvp5mIXvU?list=PL4dHfZjHc9t-pvctGQzSuOXBLG1M42xbS) or with programmatic control (Like this: http://youtu.be/zlcdJKXj_YI?list=PL4dHfZjHc9t-pvctGQzSuOXBLG1M42xbS).

Curving kerfed homasote roadbed
I have samples of two commercially available HO scale homasote roadbed that are available with kerf cuts to enable laying curves. Given the tendency of homasote to break when curved (kerfs or no kerfs) I'm wondering how tight a curve is practical without cutting curved pieces to begin with?
Preserving Unused CA Glue
What's the secret to preserving unused CA glue, or is there one? I decant a small amount for use and immediately reseal the tube and place back in the plastic container and replace the top. I still can't seem to keep it longer than 2-3 weeks before it begins to set up in the tube. Any advice?

Genesis GP15-1 sounds like there are rocks in the speaker
I have a Athearn Genesis GP15-1 (DCC with sound) that sounds like it has something rattling around in the speaker. The bad sound is still there if I have the speaker out of the loco. I have used 3 different speakers and get the same scratchy sound. I am beginning to think it is in the sound files.
Anybody else have this problem? And, of course, any solutions?
I have another Genesis GP15-1 that was a non-sound, DC version. I installed a Tsunami GN1000 decoder, the install was easy and the sound is good.

Ballasting the Trenton Yard
I have finally progressed to the ballasting stage in the Trenton Freight Yard, on my Trenton Subdivision in N Scale.
I find working in small patches, allows me to focus on one section and the glue/water mixture time to set before moving on to the adjoining section.
With such a large area to ballast it forms a checker board effect. Once the section is dry, I then ballast the area between the two.
