Weather it with a Grain of Salt! Salt weathering on rolling stock.
Hi all,
Following interest on a previous topic of mine, where I presented an EMD E8m locomotive which had some of its weathering done using the salt weathering process / technique I prepared a "small" post presenting how I am employing this technique.
TCS decoders
I just spoke with TCS support and got an immediate resolution to a question I could not find in their documentation. I use their WOW steam systems and nave been extremely satisfied, so suggested they work a little more with MRH to produce videos like we see with ESU. I keep finding new features on my decoders by accident, and could benefit from (and perhaps many could) run-throughs of the many features of their decoders.
Wiring Walthers LED Traffic Signals with DPDT - Need Some Help
Greetings,
I posted a thread a few weeks ago about how I am wanting to have a grade crossing protected by traffic signals that the crew can switch to either let the railroad or the auto traffic have control of the crossing. Here is a link to that thread:
Can anybody help me please
I'm trying to find a way back issue of Model Railroader.I had a copy, but it seems to have been eaten by the Black hole (or the carpet monster) that lives in my room It contains an article and a diagram, with (I think) a cutting list, for a modellers working and tool tray - The tool tray has individual vertical compartments and holes to hold files, modelling knives, pliers, screwdrivers etc. I know for a fact that it ISN't in March 1962 which I have just bought at great expense from USA ( I'm in UK).
Protodough
Has anyone tried a moldable thermoplastic product called "Protodough". It's marketed by Jameco Electronics

I'm wondering how easily small detail parts, etc. could be made.
Help removing weathering from ME code 70 track?
HI, I recently laid some ME weathered code 70 track. I was wondering what people used to clean off the weathering from the tops of the rail without scratching it?
Thanks,
Martin
New workspace
Finally carved out a niche for my own work space. The tiny corner of my basement that I'd been using as my music room has a nice sunlit egress window that provides me light and somewhere to vent spray booth fumes, as well as nice ceiling recessed can lights for after dark. My wife decided to redo the corner of the family room that holds all her photography stuff, which made available a nicely sized piece of countertop with a backsplash. And the recent acquisition of a new bookshelf for the bedroom made two smaller bookshelves available as bases.
N Scale BLMA grade crossings
I've got a few road crossings planned and will be using a combination of the rubber and concrete grade crossings from BLMA.
These will be the first brass parts I'll have ever worked with.
Since they are etched brass, I have a few questions for finishing them before installing them.
1. Are there any particular tools to use for trimming the crossing pieces from the spur
2. For finishing the crossings, what colours have any of you used for the rubber and concrete versions?
Code 5,000 rail
I’ve got a couple of 8’ lengths of 85 pound rail kicking around that came from my great uncle Bob’s place. He worked for the Boston and Albany back when his job was trimming wicks and pouring kerosene for signal lamps. I hate to see a family heirloom like that sitting outside rusting and I’m needing a change of pace from the buildings I’ve been working on lately. Time to do something about this.
