Weekly Photo Fun - October 23 to October 29, 2015

Time for another WPF!  Great seeing everyone's work these last few weeks, as always.

And as Andrew is always good to remind us...

As always, we get as much out of your in-process photos as we do the highly polished "all done" shots!

Building A Piece Of History Now: Thurmond West Virginia-Backdrops 10/29

I am working on a design for a small scene for demonstrating scenery and track work for out model railroad. It will be small (roughly 1ft. x 1ft. with the front curving) I am looking for design ideas and what an interesting scene would be. Any ideas from those on here?

Thanks for all of your suggestions everyone. Thurmand seemed like a good location and the below area is what we will model. It will include a cantilever signal seen on the right and the three buildings as low relief background structures.

IAIS's West End - A 45-tonner for Harlan Elevator

The 2-mile-long Atlantic Spur has long been a bit of a thorn in my side.  Its location puts it in an aisle on my layout, so I've never been able to really do it justice, only modeling about the first 30" of the spur.  Which means I've never been able to model ADM's Harlan Elevator at the end of the spur (see http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/18055 ).

For those who are fighting the fight.

“We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up or fight like hell.” ~ Lance Armstrong

Hi,

This is just something I've been wanting to do for the month of October since it's breast cancer awareness month. Unfortunately the weather and a never ending cold delayed this, but I was happy to get out and get this shot done today.

This is an Athearn "Ready to Roll" Boxcar taken on my small Woodland Scenics diorama that I'm currently in the process of refurbishing.

Autumn Operation Session 2015 on the C&E

Last weekend we had a nice operation session on the Cleveland & Eastern RR.

While I was involved in the action, little to no pictures were taken. But we gathered some anyway.

Train MA-5 picked up some cars and is leaving Elizabeth Oaks heading east to Cleveland,OH (Staging). Local (mid left) waits for clear tracks to resume its switching job.

Show me some Halloween Fun

As the leaves turn red and orange and the cooler winds blow, October brings not only the start of the model railroading season, but thoughts of Halloween as well.

Show me your horror, your bloody scenes, your zombie hordes, nightly ghost trains and things that will keep us up at night!!!!

I'll start it off with my 1:87 scratch built HO scale Headless Horseman.
