Custom painted D&RGW C-19 in HOn3

Hi all!
This is my latest project:
A D&RGW C-19 in HOn3. The model is in brass from Samhongsa (Key imports) that I have painted and decaled..
A bit more detail painting to do and some weathering.
I have added electric pickups on all drive wheels as well. The sound decoder goes in next.

Steam Switchers on the Mainline

I had a question pertaining to the use of steam switchers particularly geared towards the Great Northern but also other transition era railroads as well.

I recently came across a GN 0-8-0 yard switcher in one of my books on the GN where classification lights were added periodically for service outside the yard in Grand Forks, ND. My question is what kind of jobs were steam switchers used on with the GN and other roads requiring them to go out on the mainline?

Whistle Quill

The TCS literature for WOW talks about a fixed whistle quill and a user-adjustable quill, but I can't find what "quill" means. Please help.

Adding Pickup to a Steam Locomotive

I have a steam locomotive that I'd like to add additional electrical pickups to. I don't have any phosphor bronze wire on hand but do have collection of old guitar strings. I am wondering if that would work in a pinch? Any ideas or opinions?

Broadway Limited Niagara 4-8-4 jumping Peco turnouts

Hello to all, and Merry Christmas as well. I am looking for some input for a problem I am having. I recently purchased a Broadway Limited Niagara 4-8-4 and a NCE DCC System. I am running HO, Code 100 Atlas flex track, and Peco medium turnouts. Minimum radials on the layout is 22 degrees. The front guide truck on the locomotive seems to jump the frog on one switch, and jump the track before the frog on the other one. Just those 2 switches. All others seem fine. This was a DC layout until I converted it to DCC.
