Building model trains is, and has been, a lifelong passion.
By definition my hobby is a pastime and not done for income or to please anyone other than myself. That sounds selfish and self centered but really true.
On the other hand I really love to share my efforts with those who understand. This forum has been that community.
Looking to add DCC to a HO Scale Bachmann USRA 0-6-0 Steam locomotive
Hi, Everyone. I'm looking to add DCC to a Bachmann Union Pacific USRA 0-6-0 w/Vandy Tender.

EZ Command compatibility question
Okay, so, right now, my layout's DCC system is Bachmann EZ Command.
New Tech DCC (an open letter to DCC manufacturers
The recent LCC thread and the two threads on ne handsets got me thinking. What follows is my personal thoughts.
i think that DCC is getting the blame for problems that are not really it's own fault. Many in this hobby blame the difficulty we have setting up a DCC system and or a new engine/ decoders on DCC. A lot of us use Decoder Pro to avoid or work around some of these issues. But really is the problem with DCC or with the systems currently being sold?

Milestone - JMRI controls complete
At the end of 2014 I returned to the hobby after a few decades of no railroad activity with the exception of reading magazines and "virtual" operations on the computer.
I built a small switching railroad with the purpose of learning about DCC, JMRI and a lot of the things that had changed since the early 1980s.
I started with DCC, added JMRI's Decoder Pro and Panel Pro. Along the way to getting my own layout under control, I built the control systems for our local club and helped another friend build the panels for his empire.

MV Products marker lights lenses: to peel or not to peel?
Good Evening:
I've purchased multiple packs of .052" MV Products clear lenses. For those not in the know, these are just about marker light or class light size lenses. I'm looking for tips on installing these.

Tsunami2 vs. LokSound for authentic FM Train Master (H-24-66) sounds?
Good evening! I'm new to the MRH forums, but have found lots of terrific insight here, all for the price of a thunderstorm.

LokSound Functions & Function Mapping - What do YOU do?
So - what functions do you use the most and what buttons do you have them assigned to?
I've been having a good time playing around with my new LokProgrammer and have been pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to change function mapping.
Perhaps TOO easy . . . because I just can't decide how I want to map the buttons.
