Digitrax Sound Question

So, I have two 16 bit Digitrax sound decoders (SDXH166D) and of course the Digitrax PR3XTRA...

Esu loksound DCC mysterious problem !....need help please

Hello all,

I have a problem with my decoder dcc Esu loksound,
, This is the first time I see this. When I stop the locomotive, it gives a small blow before stopping completely.
I installed a Loksound select microphone and esu powerpack (54670) and a speaker.
If you can see the video on my youtube channel. thank you !

Loksound question - what is "Shift Mode"

Both the LokProgrammer and JMRI DecoerPro have a Shift mode option in the logical outputs section of the function mapping. The Loksound Select decoder manual merely mentions that Shift is a modifier.  The v4.0 decoder manual provides only slightly more detail.  An internet search only reveals a couple of postings on other forums where that question was never actually answered, and one possible use case in a compound/mallet steam engine.

DCC review for possible issues

Good day everyone, I have been working on a slightly larger version of this track plan but the track work remains the same, just the left and the right sides of the layout are longer.  This design was in MR in the early 90s and was at that time wired for DC.

Can anyone see any possible areas for concern when wiring this layout to DCC?  Any specific areas I should isolate or require an Auto Reversing module?  I don't clearly see any areas but being new to wiring a DCC layout I thought it couldn't hurt to ask.

Thank you in advance.

Digitrax DCS 100 & DT100 throttles

A few days ago I acquired a few boxes of misc HO parts.

One of the items that was in those boxes was a Digitrax DCS100 system and 2 DT100 throttles. All of it looks to be in nice clean condition, except the plastic throttle knobs are missing off of one of the DT100 units.

What night be a reasonable price to ask for this equip, separately or together? By reasonable I mean not a premium used price, but a price that both myself and the buyer might be comfortable with??

Wye & DCC question

I am working a layout design with a wye where the leg that I plan to gap and power with the auto-reverser will lead into a small yard and interchange that goes nowhere else and is not connected to the rest of the layout. If there is another engine working in the yard what will happen when the AR detects an engine coming through the gapped part of the wye and reverses the polarity?

I have attached an image of the plan with the planned isolation point highlighted.

Programming MTH Engines

Apparently one of my MTH Alco PA-1's has lost its mind. MU'd with the lead NKP unit #180, unit #181 just doesn't do anything. Running a Digitrak Zephyr power system on my layout and at the club, I've been told that there isn't enough power to program these engines with sound and that I need some type of "booster."

QSI Decoder Issues

I bought a used Walthers SW8 that had a QSI sound decoder in it.  Unfortunately it seems to have the problem that it won't stop unless the emergency stop is pressed.  And when pressed it only stops the engine, it doesn't actually shut it off.  Pressing momentum does not seem to do anything. The unit will decrease in speed to a slow pace, but won't actually stop when the power is zero. Have tried resetting the decoder on my NCE PowerCab on the test track and the results always seem to  be the same. Wondering if any DCC gurus have some ideas.

Adding keep Alives to your fleet of engines

Is anyone interested in  a Blog on installing Keep Alives. This can be home grown or bought from one of the decoder manufacturers. This is sort of an off shoot of the I.T. Class A steeple cab Blog by Doug. Hence the pictures I will try and load !!!
