problems progamming locos

this past week i have purchased a digitrax DCS100 with a DT400 throttle. but i seem to be having a problem programming locos. i have followed the instruction as written in the owner manual but still having problems. it won't let me input the CV# i have tried several times & it is frustrating me. my previous DCC system was a MRC prodigy advanced squared system that i have had no problems when programming locos. i don't know if i am doing something wrong or if there is a step missing from the instructions.

Digitrax se8c and signals

Still doing more reading and learning so when it finally comes time for me to start on my dream railroad I will have enough useful information to get me going in the direction I want to go.

I plan to use the se8c's to control the signals, running under JMRI in CTC mode. If I am reading this correctly, I will not only have to buy the se8c board, but in order to connect the Oregon Rail Supply signals to the se8c I will also need to buy their signal and wiring kit, cut the head off theirs, and wire my signals into the base part????

N Scale Sound

Hi

I am one of the "remote" people. I live about 300 miles from an LHS or club and they are in the most remote capital city in the world (Perth , Western Australia). I am building corner layout in my office 10 FT X 8 FT and mostly 24" wide. It has a continuous run , branch line and industrial yards (country town interchange).

I have one loco for this setup so far. It is a NSW Class 48 (Alco DL531) and has DCC but absolutely no room for sound. Would seriously think about Soundtraxx 's around the layout system but have NCE.

What's the worst that can happen? Wrong resistor for LED

Okay, I goofed!  I installed some LED headlights in a model and used 270 Ohm instead of 470 Ohm resistors.  The model is now glued up to the point that replacing the resistors would involve major work and possible damage.  If I need to, I could add another resistor in either the common or function leads, but I'd rather not if it can be avoided because I'd rather not have to re-open the model, and because space is just a little tight in there.

Digitrax and JMRI/CTC

I was explaining some of the neat stuff Ive been reading about JMRI and using it to run CTC to a friend of mine who has a basement sized HO scale layout. He wanted me to look in to weather or not we could set up an area on his layout to see if it would look and operate better than the current Atlas ABS system he has in place now. We are using Digitrax for layout control other than the signal system.

Ti Launchpad and Model Railroading

I ordered two Ti Launchpads for $4.30 each with free shipping. At that price even if I used them just to blink LEDs for grade crossings its well worth it.

A-Track - Your DCC Buddy - for NCE Systems

I am posting this announcement about A-Track, a free easy-to-use software application for NCE DCC systems, with the generous permission of Joe Fugate, and the hope that some of the MRH community may find it useful. Any comments or queries are very welcome.
