Layout design
Backdrop Heights
I'm having issues with deciding the height of my backdrop for the layout. One issue is deciding on if i'll ever add the third deck. So far this stage of the layout has taken me forever so I'm not even sure if adding the third deck is worth worrying about. If I just keep the deck tht I currently have what is everybody's ideal height. I'm thinking somewhere between 14" to 24" high.

Container Port Ideas & Images
Container Port Ideas & Images
I'm open to ideas & images to use for my container port that I wish to located in this area on my upper deck, just down from the SantaFe train station. This west coast port will be the imaginary origin for the container trains that will travel east to Baltimore located on the lower level.
layout plan for 16x24 space
Hello everyone
Its been quite a long time since I posted here. Here is track plan for my 16x24 layout room which is in storage building. The layout will be freelanced eastern railroading for now I am planning around the mid 1970's, may revert back to steam transition era eventually.
Curve radius is 26" min. Max grade is 2% and all turnouts are fast tracks #5's. I still need to work on towns and industries spurs.
Amherst Railway Society layout
Amherst Railway Society is finally building a club layout after 50 years. It's a very simple 2-track loop.
In 1 1/2 inch scale.
Attaching LED Strips to wood.
I have a question for the experts out there.
I am having to put up my LED strips again.
Last time I mounted them with their own self adhesive backing to a wooden L channel so they pointed straight to the back of the layout.
I wish to do the same this time, however the adhesive on the back is not strong enough anymore.
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to "glue" the LED Strips to wood?
Changes to the Shippensburg Classification Yard...
Over the past week I have been working on the changes to the Shippensburg Classification Yard. After our last ops session it was clear that in order for the staging deck to work properly I needed to make the classification yard a little bigger, and more flexible.
Railroading Books - Real and Model
Michael T. had a post about the Scenery book of his youth and the new found copy. I got to thinking about my books and thought I'd share them. I added the covers to Imgur and was going to share them, but thought it would be a major task with 174 of them! Instead, here is a single graphic with the thumbnails!
Control Panels Placement
I've finally have my Staging Yard area installed, wired and working and working on my first control panel.
I'm looking for some location ideas from more advanced people, who have done operation before, on where to place the 3 tablets to control the staging level. I am using JMRI Panel Pro to create this panel.
Here is my first panel:
