WWII training video: derailments

How hard is to derail a real train?. Found this WWII OSS training video at:

Not that easy...

Railway oddities

Came across the following site, strange prototype railroad items. At least worth a laugh!:

End date. A new field in addition to the build and rebuild dates. This could be used to note when the item was sold or scrapped by the railroad. Not by you!

Please respond for each selection. Yes or no only. If you respond maybe that will be counted as a no.

Compare JMRI Operations Program to other options

I am thinking about switching from 4 cycle car cards and waybills, which I have used for years, to train manifests and switch lists generated by JMRI's Operations program. I am seeking recommendations and/or comments.

Operation Session in Virginia’s Tidewater

Last Saturday the 26th of March was the fourth Saturday of the month. That meant the Tidewater modular Rail Road Club - TMRC – Tidewater Division of the Mid-East Region (MER) of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) was going to hold their monthly op session.

Easy Model Railroad Inventory - Potential Addition #3

There has been a request to add wish lists for: rolling stock, locomotives and structures. More than likely it would be three different files.

What do you think? Vote Yes or No to help plan the future development of Easy Model Railroad Inventory.

Easy Model Railroad Inventory - Potential Addition #2

There has been a request that two additional fields be added to Easy Model Railroad Inventory. Both are date fields:

Last service date – last date locomotive/car was inspected maintained – ie checked couplers, wheels, bolster, looked for broken/missing parts, oiled, lubed, etc. – details of service in existing note box

Need help to develope operations

Howdy folks,  Well I've made a layout that is based off of a real working companies track layout in my area from back in the 1950's but I'm having trouble developing operations for this so I'm asking you all for help.  I will explain what the tracks are and how they were used.

Rules?

Hello All,

What are some of the "rules" you have on your layout when you have visiting friends over to run at your house? Are there operation written rules or just verbal "this is how I would like it done" ?

Like I was thinking, one engine per cab so not to have too many running around, and always reset your switch after you use it..stuff like that. any ideas?

Thanks

Ernest

Easy Model Railroad Inventory - Potential Addition #1

On another forum I noticed a thread concerning the percentage breakdown of freight cars. The options were:

  1. Home Road,
  2. Connecting Lines, and
  3. Foreign Roads.

Personally this information is of no interest to me. The NPBL was, and is, a bridge between class 1 railroads. So it didn't, doesn't, have any freight cars. But I have learned what matters little to me may mean a lot to someone else.
