GD Anabel car ferry in N scale
This is my first ship project for my port, made a long time ago; this ferry is in N scale.
Unfortunately, I didnt found any other pictures; the ship and my layout are in a container and on the way to come in Canada around the end of september.
This is a copy of the car ferry Anabel of the GD lines; I scratch this ship more than 35 years ago around 1983 - 85 from pictures of the book of Linn Westcott about the GD and some others find in MR and RMC published 40 years ago for sure.
Water flowing from pipes, looking for new ideas
Maybe I'm just not searching with the right terms but I'm having some difficulty finding modeled examples of this and/or how to. I'm not talking about torrents of water, I could use waterfall modeling techniques for that, but more just a trickle of water emanating from pipes coming from a retaining wall. The old method from years ago is to use a piece of cellophane tape or wire coming from the pipe down to the ground and then flowing Duco cement over it.
Model Storage & Display
Hi all! I suppose many of us have a second hobby or other things aside from modelling which occupy our free time. Mine is woodworking and building furniture. I've ended up dedicating more time to this recently as I have a fully outfitted wood shop at my disposal, though I do enjoy working on detailing and weathering locomotives and rolling stock when I have the chance, as well as a few static diorama scenes approximately 12"x24".
Steel Mill/EAF Modelers
I’m kind of curious: I feel like myself and a handful of other people are the only ones that model Electric Arc Furnace steel making as a stand-alone steel mill operation. As far as geographical location goes, I live in an area where I can model BOP/BOF or Electric. Is there anyone else on here that models EAF exclusively? Is there anyone on here that models any of the ancillary industries associated with steel making but not steel making exclusively? Thanks for your input.
AAA turntables
Does anyone know if AAA turntables are still in buisiness.
The website doesn't seem to open anymore.
Knowing they made the Cadillac of turntables in all scale this is another missing company if they have closed.
The use of craft paints - First rate video
I know most of the US modelers are lost since the demise of Floquil paint.
Many things have been said about the subject and I don't ask to reopen the debate.
These video's by Jason Jensen on You tube will close the debate for sure.
Layout Video Update - June 2019
Latest video update showing progress on my a-building Central Vermont Richford Branch -
I spent a fair amount of time on this video comparing a prototype photo to the area on the layout where that scene will appear. This made the the video more a "what I'm planning to do" type thing than I'd prefer, but I wanted to capture some of the early stuff on "film."
FOS WHARF - A N scale wharf for my Port Elisabeth
Since I move to Canada this summer, my layout is packaged sine a few months and wait in a container to follow me in Quebec.
Because I'm an avid modeler, I can't wait all this time without making something for the layout.
custom paint job
I need a costume paint job on a UP GP-38 # 2033. I have photos of the GP38 #2033 There only two (2) photos
GMC motor home
I saw this awesome 1973 motor home and took pics of it.
Now that would be a nice model in HO scale to add to my collection:
