Quality acceptance of 3D prints versus injection molded models
I'm interested in what modelers think about the acceptance of 3D prints versus injection molded models, especially with rolling stock? I've been 3D printing for a while now and at first I was leery of the quality because of the layering. But I've changed my perspective because after I paint and weather my 3D models (HO scale) I hardly notice any layering. The layering this still there, I just don't notice.
Weathering an out of the paint shop Mikado
This Mikado has had its tender and cab repainted; the cab so new brass numerals could be applied, and the tender to have the herald placed correctly.

I'm looking to see if anyone knows a way to be able to strip paint off of a modern Lionel Boxcar. Thank you in advance.
Mainline Modeler-The complete collection:
There was a thread, which I can't seem to find - sigh!, That mentioned the complete collection of Mainline Modeler was available on DVD. After buying a copy I am convinced 90% of the people here would enjoy it. Some thoughts:
1) There is an incredible amount of information in drawings, detailed descriptions, and period photographs.
2) Some stories are laughably out of date. Best example was how to narrow the hood on a Blue-Box Wide Body GP-35 to scale width. Even Athearn doesn't use that shell anymore choosing an improved RPP shell.
where to order diesel locomotive detail parts?
Hello everyone
I am in need of some detail parts for my current GP15 build. You know detail associates details west, that kind of thing, I can order the parts off Ebay but I end up ordering from 6 or 7 different venders and it's just to hard to keep up with all of them. I would gladly go to my local hobby shop if there was one near me. do you know of a good "one stop shop" on the interwebs that I could go through?
Thank you so much, folks - Craig
The difference between plastic and steel wheels?
What is the biggest difference between steel wheels and synthetic (nylon, plastic, resin) wheels? What is best and for what application?
Thanks,

making blds. out of LEGOS or perforated stock
LEGOS are sold in different packaging methods. I recently puchased several different colors and items to make some of my buildings from. with a little imagination and a lot of patience you would be surprised at what you can create with these little plastic blocks. I recently created a full community out of LEGOS. They sell them at the Dollar Tree 48 pcs. to a package and there only a buck each. They also carry the doors and windows. But check to make sure they have them. Another way of constructing buildings is with the white perforated board (!/4" thk.) in the Arts and Crafts dept.
