Coupler color?

Hi folks, I'm just finishing up 12 tichy 40ft flats. I painted the entire car, including trucks and wheels.

Now I'm just curios what is the consensus on the base color for the couplers. Then I was thinking of a top coat / dry rush of a dirt color.

What are some of the coupler painting techniques you all use?

Where to buy AMvs rail rod?

Moving/Battery/Vehicles, cars

Looking for HO scale cars that can run on a highway/street at SLOW speed, battery or power other than Faller system.  Magnet under road?  Slot cars that run very slow? Thank you.

Machine Shop Interior Pieces

I am looking to put some machinery in my locomotive machine shop. It would also be neat to get some part racks with parts. It needs to be 30-50's electric machinery. Can some of you point me in the right direction? I guess I need to mention HO scale.

Thanks.

Looking for wire rope/cable. Found!

A little back ground before my question. I'm currently scratchbuilding a former Great Northern Snow Dozer in 1/29

Vaporizers?

So I had the tv on in the background while I worked on my layout, when all the sudden a commercial for vaporizers came on. It got me wondering, is it possible to put vapor pens filled with water into an HO scale smokestack and have a working smokestack? I've searched on the internet but the vaporizers are either way too big or don't hold a whole lot of liquid. Has anyone else made working smoke stacks with maybe a different method or have any idea on how to make the vaporizer method work? Thanks.

Empty Boxes!

Empty Boxes!  What to do with them?  I have hundreds of empty kit boxes from rolling stock to craftsman kits. Some have miscellaneous junk in them or left over kit parts, others are just that, empty!  I have always kept the kit boxes but at this point in time, just what do I do with them.

I see some sold on e-bay but that seems a hassle!  ie. Too much work for to little return.

Finding storage space is getting harder and I don't want to take over any more real estate!

Throw them out?

Question about modeling tubular diaphragms...

Currently, I am modeling the Norfolk Southern OCS in N-Scale. The prototype have what appear to be tubular diaphragms and I am now trying to figure out what size (again, this is for n-scale) heat shrink tubing I should use---as I have MTL heavyweight cars with the body mounted couplers for observation cars and sleepers, but have Rapido & Centralia Shops cars for the lightweight coaches and diner---as well as to what way would be best to attach it to my cars (ie. CA glue, etc.)

Any suggestions and/or tips would be GREATLY appreciated.

70's and 80's ho scale automobiles

I decided to get back into the mix and review some laser cut wood kits. The first is a real nice craftsman kit. But as they say, don't take my word for it. See for yourself. In this video I review Carolina Craftsman kits version of the Plaisto Post Office.

The other post in the forum was supposed to be on my blog. Instead I will link that post here Carolina Craftsman kit build
