Dropping a feeder

A recent thread discussed the need for feeder conduits in foam. The consensus was that permanent conduits are not necessary, but temporary conduits might make the installation go a little faster. Having occasion to add some feeders to the LT&SS, I thought I'd give it a try. Here is what I came up with.

Pseudo CTC Switch Control - Parts Question

Hi everyone,

I was looking through back issues and came upon this excellent CTC article.

Electrical help needed

I have a problem I've been struggling with for the past year. I model a 1940s coal hauler in West Virginia and we load "coal" (black beauty) from 2 online tipples.

I want to build a device to unload the loaded hopers. I have 2 pillow blocks with a 3/4" dowel rod running between the pillow blocks. To the dowel I have attached a 1X4 that has a piece of track on it. The plan is to push 5 loaded hoppers inside a building, rotate the track, empty the hoppers and pull them back out of the building.

What is your favorite signal manufacturer? Most durable?

What is your favorite signal manufacturer in HO? Furthermore, which has the best durability for modules on the move and can survive an arm or hand bump? Good bang for the buck would be helpful.

I am looking at 3-light aspect signals with individual visors, such as the SG-938 from Details West.

Getting on top of things

The older I get the more difficult it gets to rummage around under the layout, on the floor, trying to complete wiring, switch machine installation, etc.  There are ways of easing this somewhat (e.g. using suitcase connectors for wiring) but I'm wondering how far some of you may have gone to address this.  Since I tend to do all the work myself I'd be interested in any tricks/tips/hints you may have on ways to work from the top down instead of bottom up.  Suggestions for switch machines, accessing wiring for maintenance, etc.

Have I fried a DCC decoder?

I'll admit right now that other than what I've read here on MRH, I know next to nothing about DCC and probably haven't retained much of what I've read as I don't use it.

I've got a DC N scale layout with no intention of converting to DCC until the next one.

G-Scale Christmas layout questions

This is more of a fanciful Christmas display train rather than an attempt at a new G-Scale layout.  I would like to some day have a nice garden layout to compliment my HO layouts.  But that will have to wait.

See you in St. Louis!

Nathan and I will once again be in St. Louis, August 12th and 13th, representing Iowa Scaled Engineering at the St. Louis Railroad Prototype Modeler's Meet.  In addition to our normal assortment of electronic products for model railroading, we have some new things this year:

- 2pc IR sensor, based on the highly reliable original design but smaller and more flexible

- Brackets for mounting servos and the MRServo turnout controllers (free with any MRServo purchase at the show!)

DC Controllers use

Sadly, I am looking at getting rid of my DC equipment after two medium sized layouts.  Any ideas on sale of two MRC trainmaster controllers?  Are these of any use to anyone in DCC or only DC?
