LED Recommendation

I have several HO Miniatronics Brass lamp shades made for incandescent lights but I prefer small warm white LED lights if they fit into the shade better than the incandescents.  Can someone please recommend the proper size LED (mm length x width) to use with these fixture.

1) Can I purchase the LEDs with wire leads already attached to fit into the lamp shade?

2) I have an existing power supply that puts out 9v DC at 400 mA.

Thank you for your help.

Control the World with Arduino

I've been posting a lot of analog circuits lately, and while these are primarily chosen because of the concepts involved rather than the actual result, there is always an underlying question-- "would this be easier as an Arduino project?"

BlueRail and Dead Rail in 2 Rail O Scale – a journey, an adventure and a success.

I now have three locomotives using BlueRail blue tooth boards and Staunton dual battery BPS boards. And I will never have to wire any of the 25-30 turnouts, nor any sidings or spurs on my layout.

Reference materials for Arduino setup

I'm curious as to what books/reference guides/etc. folks would recommend as a way of easing one's self into working with the various Arduino products.  I know there's an Arduino for Dummies book (I'm still looking for a Dummies for Dummies version...) but there may be better guides for helping the novice understand what he/she is getting into working with these little gems.  I'm not worried about learning to program them but the electrical side is still somewhat of a black hole to me.

Cornhill & Atherton - Arc Welding with the Arduino finite state machine

Enthused with the recent Arduino control of the staging yard, I decided to strike while the iron was hot and try another Arduino project. I'm not very good at learning stuff for the sake of learning (like C programming) without an end goal, so I needed an idea and an arc welding simulator fits the bill.

Welding simulators are common, but I after a quick study of 'prototype' arc welding, I realized there was more to the project than first appeared.

Problems with Atlas HH660

Hi one and all,

Well, it's taken me a while but I finally set up a test track connected to a Digitrax Zephyr.  I've run a few used/old DC locos and most everything works fine but I have one big issue. The Zephyr is set to address "OO" for DC motors.  The throttle is set to stop and the brake is on. Track power is off.  I positioned an Atlas HH660 (Silver - new, with no decoder - never run) right out of the box onto the test track.

Atlas & Kato N scale loco performance issues

Maybe I'm not using the right search terms but I haven't had any luck finding a solution to a few issues I'm having with a few (new to me) locos.

I am running DC with a PWM throttle.  I've had no issues running any of my locos outside of one I discovered has a DCC board in it.

Just wondering what happened to the Arduino programming blog, it seems to have disappeared?
