3way turnout switch control - new way to control
Hi, New to this site. I have two 3 way turnouts and have looked into switching them with a selector switch. I have seen them designed with diodes. I set out to see if I could do one without diodes. I found a 3 position 4 pole compact switch on eBay for $4.00 ea. Here is the diagram for it.
The Diesel Detailer
For those of you that followed The Diesel Detailer forum, and the Facebook page.
The founder Buck Besson, otherwise known as Old Uncle Buck......aka Randy Earl passed away last night at 10:30pm.
Just thought I would share this.
Arduino-based DC Detection
Does anyone know how to use an Arduino to make a DC detector. I went to the idafruits and talked to a tech there. They offered me no help at all. I went to the forums and I got a ton of responses, unfortunately most were all in technoese and I never learned that language. The rest wanted to show me how to build a mountain when all I need is a mole hill. There was one guy who offered to help me so I sent him diagrams and specs but I never heard from him again. I can buy detection circuits but I can't afford to pay $42.00 each for them.
AC/DC and Tortoise Switch Machines
Hi everyone,
I miswired some of my layout to use 12 VDC for Tortoises and now need to use 16VAC to power them instead. I know Circutron makes a PS-1 and PS-2 converters but they are a bit on the pricey side and I would need two at least. I only have 4 Tortoises to rewire, "3 on one module and 1 on anther module" and was looking for any alternatives to convert them on the cheap. Is regulated necessary or can it be unregulated? Minimal size and weight are a priority.
Thanks ahead of your response.
Looking for Sources for Animation Projects
I'm in the final design stage of version 4.0 of the Fungus and Mungus Railroad. It's set in 1916 in the Colorado mountains.
I'm looking to animate a logging site, a lumber mill, the switch yard, etc.
Can anyone recommend a projects book or website of any type with some animation suggestions or projects?
I purchased the one that Kalmbach publishes, but the articles are as old as 1996. It didn't mention LEDs or microcontrollers.
Going deadrail with Railpro
I've been curious as to how easy it would be to go full batter-powered with Railpro for some time. I've seen a few other people do it, so I figured I'd give it a try myself. Below is a quick overview of how I went about it.

Ramming Speed
I just finished wiring my first module last night and started testing with some different locomotives (Atlas, Athearn & Bachmann). But I've run into an issue. None of my DC or dual mode DC/DCC locomotives will run slow. The engines just sit idle on the track until about half throttle and then they take off at ramming speed, which isn't good for a small switching layout. There are no lights or motor sounds until the loco t
Layout Electrical Help
HELP! I am having a problem with my two train layout (see attached PDF) using Lionel Fastrack. I want to run Track A and B independently using my Lionel ZW-L transformer. Each track is wired separately using bus wiring but is connected by the two 90 degree crossovers. Both trains run at the same time whether I connect the A or B track to the transformer. How do I prevent this from happening? I want to run each track off of a separate throttle.

DCC Engine to DC Track.
What needs to be done to a Full DCC engine to run it on a DC track? Should I be stocking up on DC engines or will there still be DC engines in the future.
Thanks,
Whoa Mule
