Changing the tender on a Bachmann 0-6-0 (or 2-6-0) (N scale)
So I found an N-scale Bachmann Spectrum Nickel Plate Road tender with a healthy price reduction and bought it, thinking along the lines of 'With this I can probably take various steam locos produced in different road names and make them into NKP locos'.
I was wondering if anyone has tried attaching this tender to the Bachmann 2-6-2 (which I have one of already, but which the Nickel Plate Road never did, so far as I can tell from the Historical Society's steam roster), or, to the Bachmann 0-6-0?
Headlight on Athearn Locomotives
I was wondering if there is anyway to reattach the light holder to the frame? I've tried liquid weld with no success, Any suggestions?

source for phosphor bronze strip material for wipers?
Can somebody recommend a US source for phosphor bronze strip material?
I'm looking for 1mm wide strip to make wipers for my locomotives.
Everything I found so far is coming from the UK.

12 volt accessory buss feeding arduino
I am planning on running a 12 volt accessory buss to power leds and accessories for stuctures, small motors and other animations on my lay out. I will be using arduino pro minis for some of the animations (led and motors). The arduino power in states it will take up to 12 volts. It has onboard regulation to knock it down to 5 volts. This will probably cause the pro mini to get hot. I was thinking that if I built a breakout board with an LM7805, tied into the 12 volt buss. Ground would be common for both 12 and 5 volt supplies. Will this cause any problems?
LED Lights on Athearn Locomotives
I was wondering if anyone could tell me the best LED light to install in a Athearn Blue Box locomotive and where can I get these lights? I also would appreciate any ideas on how to install them. Thank you.
Analog on DCC
stole this from another post
If "analog", I wouldn't put it on any form of DCC-powered track, as a matter of principle.
It is possible that by setting the Digitrax system to "00" you may have invoked the hybrid "Zero Bit Stretching" mode, which is a motor-cooking way of faking-out the DCC signal so it appears capable of driving a single analog loco...
February - Electrical Fun
Super Bowl Weekend - Only had to go to work 3 hours on Saturday so had some time over the weekend and before the game to work on the Railroad. Got all the various parts for the electrical switch controls so was able to build & install 9 of them. Thought someone would get a kick out of the controlled chaos so I took some pictures. This is only a temporary install till I can put on the fascia.
Power supply for led's
On my layout that I'm building, I want to put led lighting in and outside of all my structures. I would really like to have a common power supply to power the structure lights without having to solder resistors in for every led. So the question is how many volt and amp power supply do I need? And how many led's can be supplied by one power source?
Thank you

Track trouble
Hello, I have an issue that I need help resolving. I just finished my layout and I have one spot where the engine just quits running on. I believe the switch is the culprit since the current before the switch is good but once you check the switch it drops considerably or will not show at all. Would the best solution be to replace the switch? This is a manual switch. Do switches go "bad" in this manner?
SMA22 – Low Cost DCC Controller/Function Generator for Animation, Test Tracks, Absolute Stopping Blocks for Keep-Alive DCC Locos
Model animation—bringing models to life—adds enormously to the interest and enjoyment of any layout or individual model! This entry describes how to build what I call a “DCC Function Generator,” a combination of DCC base station and throttle for about $8 that can be used for mixed DCC animation control, DCC testing, Absolute/Emergency Stop blocking for lift-outs and bridges even for Keep-Alive equipped DCC locos, trolley multi-stop control, and all around DCC havoc!
