RPI — NEB&W layout may be in trouble -- UPDATE!

Message forwarded from John Nehrich

The RPI club layout is one of the finest layouts in America. I hope this goes well

and doesn't become a tragedy. I've operated regularly on the layout for several years

What's the Best Way to Clean Brass Locomotives?

I received a very nice brass steam locomotive from a special friend a few years ago for Christmas. It's an LIRR-inspired G-5 4-6-0 and it's the first brass engine I've ever owned. Therefore, I am ignorant to the type of maintenance it requires and am rather apprehensive to jump into any type of service project without some community advice.

What's on your bench to start the new year with & month Jan 2019? (2nd re-edit of 1st one)

first off. HAPPY NEW YEAR YALL!! I'm going to post my pics of some projects later on today(3hrs ahead of West Coast time.) Just got home from working a New Year's Eve party where I work at. so let's the pics/videos come in. May your year be a prosperous one.

Traveling around the USA looking at, running and taking pictures of some Model Railroads in 2019.

Hi All,

I’m at it again this year.  No more shoveling snow (and hopefully very little coal.)

BSME to relocate

The Baltimore Society of Model Engineers has been given their 90 day notice to vacate their location at 225 W. Saratoga street, Baltimore, Maryland after 66 years!

Due to this and the power issues we experienced in November we will not be holding any more open houses and will be concentrating on packing and relocation.

We have three locations we are already looking into as a possible new home.

Christmas Eve...

Tonight was freaking AWESOME! The neighborhood kids didn't know what hit them. Instead of just holiday crackers, they got real toys... stuffed animals, toy trains, whistles, engineer hats, silly putty, toy cars... thanks to all of the folks that helped out this year!

Finding a New Club location, Winchester Model RR Club

I just received notice of this from a group I associated with when I lived up near DC. Such a shame to hear of such a situation that appears to happen with some regularity with model RR clubs.

After 30+ years, it looks like the Winchester Model Railroad Club is about to lose its lease.  If that happens, we will have 30 days to dismantle the layout and strip the building to the walls.  We are actively pursuing space for a new layout and other options. We don't expect to disband the club.

Train Hysteria

Fun topic... when trains first came into being, there was a lot of hysteria surrounding the new technology... from burning down cities, to making women too independent, to the health hazards of rail travel.

Let's see some of the hysterical/historical stories you've run across in your research of railroading!

This could be fun, and please, make it just fun!

Angry Letters to the Editor

My roommate are always joking that I'm an old man, and I should be writing angry letters to the editor...

Well, I've been doing just that today.

Several months ago, I ordered a year subscription to MRVP... and for about a little over a month, I haven't been able to access it.
