Pieces parts from the heart
This past Friday I hosted our operation group (NCIOG) at my home and shared the news about moving to Florida. All of the guys were sad to hear the news as we've grown close over the last couple of years. I told the guys that once I had a chance to look over everything that I would see what I could offer them for their railroads. Keith W.
Going the extra mile... A tale of Excellent Customer Service from Litchfield Station...
Just thought I would share some thoughts with you all about a recent experience I had that deals with what can only be described as "excellent customer service" and conversely "not so good customer service".
Must have a battery in the tender, This thing still runs over bad track.
If only HO ran so well, Proto 87?

The Kilkenny Railroad

The beginning of the end - a sad day....
It is with sadness that I announce the beginning of the end of the Richlawn Railroad. We have decided to move back to Florida to be near our family and have started the process of getting quotes from movers and listing with a realtor.
All construction on the railroad has been halted and I'm now thinking about what to do with all of my railroad stuff. If I resume the hobby in Florida (in an apartment) I will definitely change from HO to N scale.
Thank you all for your support, comments, input & encouragement.

Modeling the US in HO. . .
I was curious as to what space would be needed to model the entire USA in HO and a few other railroading areas.
I came out with a few rough estimates:
USA: You would need a building 23 miles wide and 34.5 miles long.
Tehachapi Loop: 14 x 28 feet
UP Bailey Yard: 122 x 486 feet
It's amazing how we modelers can compress real life into such a relatively small space.
Panoramic view of my Train Room
Here is a Panoramic view of the train room. This will be an On30 layout. About 16' x 17' and 9' walls.I have two recessed areas. Also have two doorways. The tall one is the entrance. The other doorway is space under the stairs. I think this will be the computer/Dispatcher area. The short wall to the left of the entrance door will have a few tunnels through it leading to a helix in an adjoining room. I plan to have three levels on this layout.I have all of the benchwork stored in another room. Benchwork came from a guy that was getting out of the hobby.
JL&T Railroad Blog - L&T Branch Line / JL&T Module Area...
I thought I would start a new blog post on the L&T Branch Line / JL&T Module area. I have now started doing the backdrop and laying the sub roadbed components. So this blog post will follow the construction of this area.
