I wish I modeled modern N scale
I wish I modeled modern N scale. No I mean it, I really do.
We just returned from Japan, where I was able to ride some trains, do some rail-fanning, and visit a number of hobby shops in Tokyo (although that wasn't the main purpose of our visit). Although mostly Japanese prototypes, the selection of N gauge items were amazing - the range of vehicles, and things like shipping containers were mind boggling.
Tornado relief
I just want to send out this message to those of you in the south that were affected by this past weekends outbreak of tornadoes. I just want you to know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers. It's funny how we can take life for granted sometimes. You never know what life has in store for us.
I wish all of you the best!
I would like to kindly ask the rest of you reading this post, to keep these people in your thoughts as well.
Take care & God Bless!!

Designing Winslow Mills, Another Look
I have decided to take another look at how I am handling Winslow Mills. I switched the position of Waldoboro and Winslow Mills. This provided me with a number of benefits. Winslow Mills is correctly oriented as far as East and West relative to Waldoboro. The majority of the structures are now on the inside of the plan creating space to include the cannery and a few others.

If this post way out-of-bounds for this forum, please let me know. Just thought it was interesting railroad news of general interest:

Withlacoochee River Report
Thats right, assuming that this thing works in Safari, because it sure ain't working in IE9, yes, in these two videos, I actually managed to produce two Withlacoochee River Reports in less than a week, and I hope to get back to the weekly program again, as well as other programs I had been working on.
Designing Winslow Mills - My First HO Adventure
It is finally time to get something built in HO scale. In this entry I am going to describe the layout I am planning with a focus on the 20"x120" section I am going to start with. The larger layout will include Waldoboro on the Maine Central's Rockland branch but my first effort will be focused on the village of Winslow Mills a few miles to the northwest of Waldoboro.
The L&H RR - Based on a historic eastern Ontario branch railway
Last year my better half encouraged me to take the plunge and act out on a long-standing desire to have a model railroad. And quite generously agreed to allocate a corner of the downstairs family room for this project. There were a few conditions -- one wall has a heat pump unit mounted that must be accessed intermittently for service. And the other wall had a window that is also seasonally maintained. This meant that whatever I built in the 7x10 foot space had to be movable.
