Personal journal (editorial or commentary)
It has been a long time!
It has been a long time since I have made a blog entry. I have been busy with work, family, and other hobbies. After a long hiatus I started home brewing again. I have also discovered that editing home videos takes an absurd amount of time. Oh yeah, I have two toddlers. 'Nuff said!

What's your "Golden" memory of railroading?
We all have something inside us that fuels the passion. A childhood memory of railfanning or growing up and playing by the rails. Something!!! Without exception, everybody was once a newbie with no experience; nothing but some inspirational memory.
Layout construction from the ground up An On30 logging railroad
This is where I will post my progress of my On30 layout. It will be a logging railroad that ends at a seaside town. This will give me plenty of modeling options. I know I want a Wharf scene. The rest remains to decided. I have a 17'x17' area in the basement with a possible 4'x8' area for a helix.
I have framed the walls and installed lighting in the ceiling. I have high ceilings so a mushroom design is in order. The next step is to install wall outlets after which I will be hanging drywall.
Return to the Basin
It's been a while since we had anything worth saying about the Sudbury Division, but we can report we are still chugging away, though not with steam locos. You may recall we were having issues with electrical pickup in our last installment (Tales from the Basin Part 2), and we had to work long and hard to get that under control. Last summer we took every car off the layout and cleaned each of their wheels individually with cotton swabs and alcohol, cleaned all the locomotives and all the track from top to bottom.
Bachman not responding to issues
I have a wide variety of Bachman engines and I am having some problems with them . I have tryed emailing
them with their service dept. and left phone mesages but get no response from them. I have done this
several times and still no call backs or email from them. Anybody else having the same problem with them.

Paw of a Bear Website Sluggish and Disappointing
According to sources in the know, Paw of a Bear's website has recently been awarded the 2010 Snail's Pace Award for Excellence in Sluggishness. When asked to comment, Michael Duggan, proprietor, stated, "Our ecommerce provider assures us that the site is never down and that there are never any problems with, for example, the live shipping rates or excessive load times. Who am I to doubt them?"
This is great weather for working on the railroad
Here in NYC we have a blizzard. We have about 14 inches on the ground and it cold (about 22 degrees fahrenheit) with wind gusts up to 60 mph. Yes, that's 60 MPH. Th elast time we had winds like that notonly did we trees come down, but we also lost power as the trees took the power lines down with them. Now you'd think things like that wouldn't happen here in NYC, but Queens not like the other boroughs of the City since it has many areas which are more like what you would think represent suburbia. Right now I am siting in my office and listening to the winds blowing the snow sideways.
