Why bother? Payment delays ...
On another thread, Joe Fugate posted
"So give us your take that’s superior and we'll publish it."
Why bother, when I might have to wait months and send lots of emails just to get paid like a MRH author I know.
WIP -CN Intermodal Yard
Temporarily set the Intermodal scene on my layout -Trenton Subdivision in N Scale and placed much of the elements to ensure that everything will fit and gauge locations for light poles. The lights are non-working as I won’t be operating the layout in the dark. The telephone poles in the foreground will be substituted for lights.
EL and CN around Buffalo
Progress is slow on the EL but thought I would post a few pics. The desire to move to another house is keeping me from getting a lot done. And now the real estate market is pretty much shutdown.
I am currently modeling the section between Black Rock and Fort Erie. On the US side, the Erie Canal terminated near here and ran under the left side of the swing bridge. It was eventually converted to the NYS thruway.
Canadian Army Train -WIP
Work on the Intermodal Yard on my Trenton Subdivision in N Scale has stalled, while I wait for delivery of some items needed to finish. So great opportunity to forge ahead with a Canadian Army train I have been working on. The tracked vehicles are from Roco.cc and the wheeled vehicles are from Shapeways. I will be creating my own decals for these vehicles as none are available for Canadian armour in 1:160 scale
WARNING - Don't get taken by Model Railroad Academy!
Watch out for Model Railroad Academy!
I got suckered by their low $3 membership several months ago, and I just got a strange $124 charge on my credit card today with this description:
PRODUCTS PROGRAMS SUBSCRIPTIONS, 1903 WAYZATA BLVD., WAYZATA, MN, 55391
I did a google search and found this:

Finished Intermodal Cranes
Just finished the MiJack Translift and Container Gantry Cranes for my CN Intermodal Yard on my layout -Trenton Subdivision in N Scale. The two crane models fit nicely in the scene and don’t overshadow the surrounding scenery. I opted for two different styles of cranes for added variety.
Traffic lines and marking complete. WIP Update
It has taken quite a few hours of measuring, marking, masking, painting and (of course) touch ups. As you can see from the “Google Earth” view. The trailer parking and container storage areas have been lined and numbered. I have not placed the CN Intermodal Yard into my Trenton Subdivision in N Scale. By having the flexibility of being able to move the scene I can work easily on all areas.
SMA34 More Power to SMA20 Decoders with Tips and Additions
This article describes some simple changes for the SMA20 Mobile/Accessory/Multifunction 17 Channel Configurable DCC Decoders, which can increase the power provided with the on-board circuitry to deliver two Amps from the DCC bus to the decoder. A new decoder board is offered, as well as a couple of interface tips for the modeler.
Small progress - covering the windows on the train room doors.
One of my excuses for not doing anything in my train room is because the light coming through the french door windows of the room can disturb my wife's sleep. Our bedroom is directly across from the train room and she can't sleep with the door closed. I had attempted to cover the windows using foam board only to discover that the foam board is not completely opaque.
