How do you transition a road that suddenly ends at the edge of the layout?

I have been putting quite a bit of thought into the edge of my layout and how to not have “my miniature world” just come to an end.

A More Current Link

Out of curiosity I clicked on my signature hyperlink and found that it goes to the one entry I've posted on the MRH site. Well, that's not helpful.

Portable AC for the layout room

On the Where is your Layout Located thread https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/38481 I posted mine was in the garage and I had just got a small portable AC for the layout room. There were a couple of follow posts so rather than highjack the thread I thought I'd start a separate thread for it. It's that time of the year and many of us have garage layouts. So share how you cool off your layout room or for those looking for ideas, scan the posts to see what may work for you.

Binging Allagash content is good for your health

Hello model railroaders!

This isn’t a public service announcement or a promotional stunt, but more like how binging Allagash content on Model Railroad Hobbyist (MRH) and Trainmasters TV has inspired me.  Bottom line up front, the inspiration has me changing from modeling the Chicago & Northwestern – Marshline Subdivision and going back to the Mascoutin Valley Railroad.

Condo closing and layout room initial state

I closed on my condo purchase yesterday, what an ordeal!

But it's done, I paid, and I have a key.  It's a 3 bedroom place, a lot of space for just one guy. I've been renting in this same building for 3 1/2 years, so I know the annoyances and risks and I was pretty comfortable with the building.

I don't know if in today's covid world I'd risk buying, but the deal was made and committed to back in January. The closing got held up for about a month from the original plan of April 20 due to covid shutdowns.

Back to US Outline N Scale after a sojourn with Marklin HO

Hi there. Having publicised my Marklin layout over the last year or so, I thought that I would start a thread about my return to US Outline N Scale. The full story of this is now on my model railway blog at http://www.gmrblog.co.uk.

If you are interested - the blog goes back to 2009 and covers my many attempts at model railways encompassing US HO, US N Scale, UK OO, UK N Gauge and OOn3.

What to do before repainting a locomotive?

I decided that the lone SW9 on my freelance railroad, the Spring City & Northern (SPRG), was recently sold to a paper mill.  Instead of stripping the paint right away, I snapped a few photos and came up with the following story.  Enjoy,

Greg
