Operating shelving for card sorting, more weathering
I have another detailed blog posting here - giving an overview of my steam locomotive weathering techniques, and my designs for card-sorting shelves in (on? under? near?) the benchwork. Enjoy!

A couple photos here, lots more in the blog post.
Essential features in a steam locomotive cab?
I am working on outfitting a steam locomotive cab interior, what detail parts do I need?
What is essential to the operation of a locomotive?
The locomotive in question is a freelanced, coal fired 0-6-0 w/ tender built in about 1910, last modernized in the 1950's.
I know I need gauges, valves, and other "things" but I would like to have a better idea understanding the required hardware.
Thanks, Skoti.

First Scratchbuilding Project - Generic 4 Axle Tender
Hello all! I've been a member here for a while, but haven't posted as I've been out of the hobby for a while. I've decided to return, and here I want to document the progress on my first real scratchbuilding project, which is an S scale 4 axle tender. It's not meant to complement any specific locomotive, as I don't own any locomotives in S scale yet, but the goal is to build something that would look nice behind a medium-sized locomotive, such as a 2-8-0, 2-8-2, 2-10-0, or what-have-you.
USA, Oregon, Portland, 2nd Annual Portland RPM, Feb 9, 2019
The organizers of the Portland, OR RPM just announced on Facebook the date for the 2019 meet. It will be held on Feb. 9, 2019. Location to be finalized, but it sounds like a bigger venue and close to the airport. Mark your calendars, and get those models finished!
Moderators note: It's going to be at the airport Shilo Inn. For more information: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2001136043323501/
Rapido's new product announcements
During a livestream on Facebook today, Rapido announced several new products, including the Alco RS-11, MLW RS-18, and Tempo passenger cars (coach, cafe lounge, club car) in HO and the Dash 8-40CM in N scale. The RS-11 and RS-18 will come in several different versions - I think I caught that there would be six different undecorated variations available. Also shown was the packaging for the upcoming N scale Turbo train, an early paint shot of the HO Royal Hudson, and the upcoming N scale 53 foot well car.
New Bachmann N-Scale Sound Equipped 2-8-0
Got one these from MB Klein this afternoon.
From the diagram has the can motor like the 4-6-0.
My guesstimate is a 15mm diameter speaker facing downward in the tender.
Full Soundtraxx Economi with all the sounds.
Runs and sounds really great, am impressed.

C&TS Visit
Visited the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad the last couple days. I highly recommend it. Very railfan friendly, and feels like its an active RAILROAD rather than a tourist ride. I will post some pix as I get them organized.
