Has anyone converted a Bachmann HO 2-truck Climax to an oil burner?
Has anyone converted a Bachmann HO 2-truck Climax to an oil burner or know of a link to any discussion of how they may have gone about this? As far as I can tell the latest iteration of this loco doesn't include parts to do this.
SOLVED - Could use some help finding disassembly instructions - BLI NYC Hudson (2002)
After two hours of Google and YouTube searching and checking out the BLI website, I cannot find a manual for disassembling the BLI Hudson. I believe I had it at one time but now can't find it. Specifically, I want to get at the wiring in the engine because I appear to have a loose wire for the headlight as it it is intermittent. I have removed the LED from the smoke box, tested it, and replaced it and ensured it is not shorting on the weight.
Does anyone have a link to the documentation or a YouTube video?
I believe an earlier repair job of mine is at fault!
A couple of videos from 2002 UP Challenger & Circus Train Runby
For my first blog entry, thought I would share two of my videos that I took on 8mm videotape back in 2002. Some of you have probably seen these on another forum.
Had this on 8mm video tape for years (obviously) from July 6, 2002. Recent messages here got me interested in digitizing it and here it is! And, yes, that is me taking pictures at trackside (still haven't digitized them, they are 35mm film). Taken in Mt. Prospect, IL (just north of OHare Airport.

I am asking the MHR community for some help in solving a problem I created with my choice of layout scenery. My layout was originally conceptualized 25 yrs ago as a much smaller layout with no intention of adding a backdrop or anything like that. I started this current version with the old idea then expanded it because I had the room to do so. Although I do plan on adding a backdrop at some point, I didn't take this into consideration when I stuck with the basics of how I originally thought the scenery would look.

When I last posted I had just completed adding rocks to the newest section of my layout. I flew to CA for vacation on 12/27 and am still here now in LA on business until Feb. Of course that means I don't get to work on the layout but before I left I took a few more photos to share after I had colored all the remaining white plaster with Woodland Scenics earth pigment. It really makes a huge difference. Even without grass or trees the layout starts to look more realistic.
Weathering Steam Locomotives With Dry Mediums?
I have two nice and shiny Broadway Limited Pennsy H10 Consolidations. I have had pretty good luck with freight cars using powders and Pan Pastels. But I have really butchered some boxcars moving on to wet mediums like oil or washes. I am really nervous tackling +$350 locomotives. Can anyone give weathering advice using dry mediums. I am not into grunge or heavy weathering. But do need to take into account territory where Pennsy ran, wet weather and smoke.
Sound & Sugar-Cube Speakers
Sound and Sugar-cube Speakers
This was just recently posted on a Soundtraxx discussion I had started about the incompatibilities that could arise when running MTH locos with other DCC equipped locos. I found this 'sounds portion' very interesting,...
My free calendar for 2018: Narrow Gauge in Colorado
Same procedure as last year! I like to share my free downloadable calender available at my modellcom-blog. Sorry, but the site is only in german, but you may use the translation function to get a little idea about what is going on there (railroads, real and model and card modeling).
Electricity 0.001 don’t read this, please!!!??.,!
Seems like a lot of people are having trouble with electrons. In particular with the electrons in DCC circuits. However this doesn’t preclude a number of people who are using DC circuits.
DCC complicates diagnosis of electrical problems. A simple device can go a long way at finding a trouble spot in track, switches, motors and on and on.
