Powering Atlas solenoid switch motors -- DC/AC/???
Recently I stumbled across Atlas undertable switch motors, which would be great for the upper shelf of my layout as there is very little vertical clearance. Am using Tortoise motors elsewhere and controlling them all with DS64s fed by a common DC power bus (discarded flat screen TV power supply). The upper layer track is all mounted on cork over camper tape to damp sound. But I am having a bit of a senior moment trying to understand the conflicting discussions about the appropriate power source. The vendor says an AC power source is required to toggle the solenoid.
Speed matching an Atlas with DCC/QSI Sound with a TCS T1 Non sound Athearn...
Hi All,
I recently purchased a GE Dash 8-40C with DCC/QSI Sound. I have been unsuccessfully trying to speed match it with a Athearn RTR SD 50 with a TCS T1 decoder.
I have been using Decoder Pro and trying all manner of configurations with both speed tables and changing CV's, clearly I am missing something rather big, I have searched high and low on the internet and have been unable to find the right how to that will allow me to match them.
Digitrax DS64
I'm considering opperating my turnouts using a DS64 (connected to Tortoise machines) but I'd also like to have the ability to opperate the turnouts with facia-mounted toggle switches.
Resistance is Futile...
Resistance is Futile... Ok, If I have a L.E.D that needs 1.5 volts, what resister do I need using 12vdc?
Also I have A 2.4 volt L.E.D I need help with also using 12vdc.
Thanks,

Using Decoder Pro with a Macbook...
Hi All,
I want to use Decoder Pro with a Macbook, has anybody on MRH successfully used Decoder Pro with a Macbook via a USB to RS 232 Serial Adaptor using a NCE Power Pro?
I purchased a USB to Serial adaptor today only to realise that it was for Windows only, I tried downloading a driver for OS X but it doesn't seem to be working. Would appreciate any ideas...
Cheers,

Update on Bachmann Spectrum and Soundtrax
Hi, Jack from Star, Idaho. I ventured out and did some looking at the 70 ton three truck climax that I received as a replacement for the defective shay. Well I opened up the water tender and found that the PCB had a small motor function decoder with a standard 8 pin plug. I removed that and removed the PCB to expose the speaker housing. There I found that a one inch 8 ohm speaker fit perfectly in the factory made area for the speaker. No drilling holes or creating an area for the speaker a great improvement.
Lighting project success
Hello every one, I got the parts in Thursday night and worked on it friday night and got it done. My SD45 lighting project. Long story short I was working on it a couple days after I got it and had to remove all the lights and the PC board and hard wire it. I tried re adding lights with resistors, but that didn't work. This time I used a TCS VR 1.5. I think it came out great. Got head light, roof beacon (it's suposed to be programmed as a prime stratolite, never heard of it and I'm awaiting a reply from a friend on how to do this) gyro light and class lights. Hope you like it.
Soundtrax Sound Decoder
Hi, Jack from Star, Idaho. I finally received my three truck 70 ton Spectrum Climax as a replacement for the defective Shay I sent back. They sent me one that has DCC but no sound. Where can I find the Tsunami sound chip that is factory installed? Bachmann shows the speaker but no information on the decoder. the PC Board shows the motor function decoder but not the sound. Soundtrax says that the decoder can be added but no information on the part number or decoder number. Does anyone have any ideas where I can find one of these? I don'
wiring turntable off tracks
I'm at a point I can't put this off any longer. I have wired my layout into 4 blocks.
Getting access to sound files higher than F12 in DCC
I have an N scale Athearn Challenger with some nice sounds using the supplied remote control using standard DC power. The list of other sounds using DCC is amazing! I wanted to get started with a system that could handle sound files above F12. I'm not sure if I need to get a deluxe DCC system by Digitrax, for example, or I'd be OK with just a starter set.
Could someone recommend a DCC set for a newbie?
