Wayfreight Video on the Columbia & Western

Hi everyone:

With the recent completion of the last major bridge on my model of CPR's Boundary subdivision, I thought it was worth the effort to video document what running a wayfreight on the mountainous C&W is like.  I tried using the small Looxcie camera to capture interesting views and its small size certainly does allow for interesting trackside and "on train" angles.

First Operating Session in the books

Well, in my last post I asked for suggestions for my first operating session on my N-scale Deer Creek and Susquehanna Railroad. That session took place last night and seemed to go quite well. Many people suggested having food and drink available and that is certainly standard protocol in the group that I operate with. One of the other suggestions was to have some maps of the layout with industries marked. I took that suggestion and ran with it, producing a folder with some of the railroad history and maps of towns along the railroad.

n scale train sound system

While ago I had save some sites that developed some products regarding sound for your layout. Somehow I lost those sites and was wondering if anyone knows of any sites that have products that you can attach to your layout for sound. I dont have any DCC locomotives so the sound system would have to be a complete system by itself. One site that I can not find now, had a sound system of a train running on a track. It had a sep board horns. Does anyone know of this site or any like it as I like to add some sound to my layout for my grandkids.

Freight forwarding The Monday Night Mail Train

Last month we looked at the staging yard on the Kanunda and Emu Flat Railway my medium sized South Australian prototype HO scale layout set in 1984.

I thought I would share some tools that I'm using to design a new prototype railroad. I'm interested in modeling Denver in particular in 1959. I have traveled to Denver and lived in Denver for many years but as anybody knows the railroad's don't look the same today as they did and 59.

Made a Decision on Operations for My Layout

I decided last year to get back into the model railroading and have spent the winter cleaning out the basement spare room and unpacking/assessing my equipment after 20 years in storage. I had a layout with completed trackwork and some scenery and have been looking it over to ascertain the needs to rewire it for DCC.
