MRServo: An Introduction

Ever wanted to automate the turnouts on your layout?  Maybe you have some that are hard to reach?  Or maybe you have a hidden staging yard?  Do you model a modern CTC-controlled subdivision and want to give your dispatcher realistic control over the turnouts?  Or maybe you have a multi-deck layout and other switch machines are too bulky to sit below the upper decks?  No matter what the situation, MRServo is a cost-effective solution!

More Uses for 3D Printing Around the Layout

So you have heard all kinds of things about what modelers are doing with 3D printing to assist in their rolling stock, locomotive and structure builds. How about some some more basic items to spruce up your layout?

GP38-2 drives - Athearn Genesis vs. Atlas

I'm thinking of adding some Athearn Genesis GP38-2s to the fleet, but would like to know how the drive quality compares with the Atlas GP38/GP38-2 (and Kato SD38-2s, for that matter), and how well the two can be made to MU with DCC. Any input would be appreciated.

JMRI throttle problem

I have set-up JMRI panel pro (ver 3.40) using NCE Power Cab.  My locos are programmed and

throttles assigned.  They all operate as expected - but here is the problem........

When using the Power Cab throttle the locos respond quickly as I have programmed them, but

when using the JMRI throttles (using any command) there is a 15 to 20 second delay then the locos respond properly.

This occurs both on the main and programming track.  I am using new 7' cables connecting the NCE USB

Planning for operation & Monday night mail train

The following is an account of how I have set about designing my layout and operating scheme.

Networked Fast Clocks

Looking to enhance your operations with a fast clock system?  Do you need multiple displays around the layout?  Do you want a configurable, yet easy to use system for your operators?  The Iowa Scaled Engineering Fast Clock system may be exactly what you need providing wired or wireless networking between clocks, three stored start times, programmable fast time ratios from 1.0:1 to 99.9:1 to match any operating scenario, and a highly flexible, yet easy to use interface.

Yard Critique

Hey everyone, I am struggling on the design of my yard.... look this over and give me some suggestions. It is loosely based on Juniata / Conrail. Needs to handle 10ft trains, have engine service buildings, fuel and sand facilities and classify trains.

Does it work better with the mainline in the front or rear?

Thank you, sorry about the poor drawing but Autocad didn't create a PDF very well...

A new variant of tag-on-car car forwarding

Several months ago in an MRH thread on tag-based car forwarding systems I attempted to briefly describe a variant we have been using on the N Scale Columbia & Western for a year.  I think it can be compared to the old tag systems in the same way the new waybill and card pocket forwarding system can be likened to 4 cycle car cards.
