Modeling topic

Welcome to Dana's Birthday Party

Naturally I did go there to run my newly painted F3's, which now have a proper paint job, none that "east of the Mississippi", stuff.

Looking for plans

Pretty much new to the model railroading experience, I have become facinated with making my own structures. I started out using balsa wood, then switched to styrene, but am having trouble finding plans for structures and have had to pretty much design my own structures from pictures etc.....

Are there plans out there for yard buildings, houses, gateman towers or switching towers, etc. that are available on the web that I can download? I model in N-Scale, but could convert HO plans if that is all there are. Thanks.

I Told You I was Going To Paint The Stewarts

And I did, they aren't exactly perfect, but what in life is?

hobby paint

It seems that the federal government in Canada is intruding into our hobby.Floquil and Poly scale will get very hard to find.I personally have no luck with water based paint so I will be in trouble. It looks like we will be turned into criminals smuggeling paint into Canada.I will update this info when I know more

Railroad/Marine

Hi Everyone,

It seems that the topic of modeling Marine/railroad is getting in vogue through different media. Here is a short video that I found thru one of the groups which I found very informative. A prototype railroad loading a ferry with more than 8,000 tons of railroad rolling stock within 8 hours. This ferry is impressive, two stories high and don't know how long. I hope you will enjoy it.

KATY BALDWIN AS 16

KATY CONVERTED SOME AS16 TO EMD POWERED UNITS WITH DYNAMIC BREAKS.  I HAVE SOME OLDER STEWARD AS16 MODELS TO CREATE THAT CONVERSION.  I HAVE BEEN HAVING NOT MUCH LUCK FINDING INFORMATION SO I CAN CONVERT THE MODELS FROM STANDARD AS16 TO THE UNITS WHICH KATY UPGRADED.

Finally Have Some Warbonnet's

I finally got a set of Warbonnets, man these are nice, not quite as nice as say, the Genesis F units, not quite as nice as say, the Stewart or P2k F units, but nice none the less, these are MRC engines, I got em at a decent price, much more affordable than the P2k or the Genesis, and a littler nicer than the BB Athearns!

LVN - Building Newby Chemicals

Newby Chemicals is a facing siding that is shared by a second facing siding to a team track open freight platform.  Also there is a grain terminal facing with two tracks (5 car capacity).  There is also a trailing siding which goes into a lumber yard.  Newby Chemicals provides loading and unloading for a variety of products.  Four tanks are modelled in the facility though there are pipes leading off the layout.  Two of the tanks are for Chlorine (Cl) and two for Sulphur (S).

Adventures in Track Weathering

I’ve started doing some experimentation with scenery and wanted to share some techniques that yielded results that I'm pretty happy with.  Keep in mind my layout is a mid-70's terminal carfloat layout that I strive to have a  “life on the edge of bankruptcy” look and feel with worn down equipment, marginally maintained rights of way, etc.  The goal of this experimentation was to create old, neglected trackwork.  If you are looking to depict Class I 4 track mainline the specif

Decal paper

I'm looking into making custom decals for rolling stock, using blank decal paper and a laser printer.  Microscale and Champ do not list blank papers, but Walthers does.

Walthers 932-706821 is Dull finish blank decal paper.

Walthers 934-706822 is Gloss finish blank decal paper.

Has anyone used these?      Plus/Minus?          Is there a preference for using Dull finish or using Gloss finish?

Is there another brand that you recommend?  Other ideas or suggestions?

Thanks for the help.
