Article Ideas/Suggestions?
In my various yahoo groups & forums that I peruse I've noticed complaints about MR magazine getting away from the more detailed modeling topics like scratch building Locos & Rolling stock.
I thought why not suggest this to MRH since MR has a different goal for their publication. I for one enjoy their magazine but nevertheless I am interested in how to get started in scratch building of Locos particularly in N-scale.
New Year, New Opportunities
It's a new year with new opportunities.
Tonight I put up a couple of the sections for my station. They haven't been up since I was in Bergen in the beginning of october.
The PWRR 8 - The EBT Part 2
It's time to bring out the M-1 gas-electric. It's usually run once a year on Fall Spectacular weekend.
The M-1 pulls up to Orbisonia Depot.
We're heading out past some hoppers.
What's in a kit
I'm sure many of us who have been in this great hobby any length of time have heard a conversation similar to one I heard yesterday in a local hobby shop. Dad and mom had gotten their son a train set for Christmas. The family was in the hobby shop to get more track, and maybe some more rolling stock. The employee was doing a pretty good job of explaining track questions, and steering them to nickel silver (they don't stock brass: good for them). But he couldn't answer questions about the differences in kits, having little or no experience.
Dap Ready Mixed Concrete Patch?
While I was at a local swap meet earlier this month I ran into a guy who was selling bundles of a years worth of MR for $2 a bundle. Not bad for 12 issues.
I grabbed the one from 1992, since that was a date I know I wasn't in model railroading and thus would not yet own any of those issues.
The PWRR 8 - The EBT Part 1
It's not hard to have a love affair with a narrow gauge railroad. The 3 foot gauge was often necessary to handle the tight curves and steep inclines associated with mountain railroading. Such prototypical settings lend themselves to some great modeling possibilities. Such a railroad was the East Broad Top located in the mountains of South-Central Pennsylvania. The EBT was a 32 mile line connecting mines that extracted good quality bituminous coal from Broad Top Mountain to an interchange with the PRR at Mt. Union, PA.
MRH Scale Conversion Utility Program
Welcome to the support forum for the MRH Scale Conversion Utility program.
The Scale Conversion Utility program is provided as a bonus to readers of Model Railroad Hobbyist Magazine. It allows quick and convienient conversion between scale feet and inches (or meters) and the actual (real) distance for different scales.
You can ask questions, make suggestions, and read answers or opinions here regarding the use of this program in this forum topic.
North Western Pacific/ Eel River canyon.
I'm having a little trouble trying to track down a 1900's era Railroad map of the Northwestern Pacific RR.
and/ or The North coast Railroad.
The particular part i'm interested in is the branch that runs from Alton(formerly Hansen at the time) to
Carlotta.
I know it was formerly operated by the PALCO as far as the mill at carlotta and had running rights to eureka,
