Aberfoyle Junction Video

Aberfoyle Junction is the layout that really got me hooked on model railroading. While in their original location, in the late 1970's I accidently discovered this layout. A young 9 year old me was dragged by my parents to an antique market in Aberfoyle, just outside of Guelph, Ontario. I had no idea at the time that on the second floor of a barn on the property was this incredible O scale layout, fully operating! Needless to say, I was hooked for life after watching it all for several hours, mesmerized.

Need any operators!?!

Heavy Duty Tie Down Chains for Military and Civilian Loads

I worked on some more military flat cars this afternoon. I used some chains from a set of Alkem Scale Models HeavyDuty Tie Down Chains to secure a HEMMT Fuel truck to a OTTX 60-ft flat car. The flat car is an Intermountain Company model. The HEMMT is Herpa model. I made the decal for the truck using my ink jet printer.

Let's do the time warp again

So I have been wanting to build a roundy-round set in the early 1950’s so I can run my Bachmann 2-8-0. My fiend Joe D’Amato really planted the seed when he gave me a Micro-Trains engine house. This engine house has many components that look and feel like John Allan’s Gorre and Dephetid engine house, except that it is open on one side and is a single stall. Joe and I have agreed to build a pair of 2×4ish layouts using the same basic track plan, but with different eras and locations.

Great Model Railroads

I just got the latest issue of Great Model Railroads, and was please to see James McNab's Iowa Interstate railway.. It was nice to see a great point to point prototype layout,  Nice job Jim

Transfer Terminal Kitbash: Beginning to come together

The walls are together, and mostly detailed -- there are still some signs to compose and print, and some delicate pipes that will have to wait almost until final assembly. Also, the east-end dock and canopy has to be built. I set it up with tape to determine the final position on the baseboard:
