Video of layout sound clinic in Grand Rapids
Hey all,
The clinic on layout sound at the 2012 Grand Rails meet went well (attendees are responsible for this:). Someone video'd the clinic. He asked permission, and because I didn't mind (and din't know the clinic would go so well:), I didn't ask for contact info...
Of course now I'd like to contact this fellow. I'd like to obtain a copy of the video to post in the layout sound Yahoo group. If anyone knows who this fellow is, or is this fellow, please contact me:

on aug.10th 2012 i had the privilege to visit the "mariani distributing" plant in phoenix az. this facility is part of my peavine sub layout. i actually modeled the structure before i had the visit, so i had to make a few adjustments & add some other structures.the pics i have attached shows the model & the prototype.
this company receives sugar in liquid & powdered form. after the process, it is shipped out in tanker trucks. they ship between 30 & 35 trucks per day with train movement 6 times per week
Accurail USRA 55 ton undec hopper question
I'm looking into starting to acquire coal hoppers for my layout. What is the difference between the Accurail series 2400 and series 2500 undec coal hoppers? The only difference I can tell is that Accurail list one series with the description "as built". In all my years in the hobby, that's a new one on me. Right now I'm debating ordering total undecs or data only cars but I'd like to know the difference in the two series of undecs.

HO GP7's Bmann vs. Athearn Genesis
I don't want to open up a can of worms here, just want some general opinions. It looks like I may be able to get hold of some funds to expand my loco roster and I'm looking at GP-7s . Right now there seems to be two choices in the marketplace and they have widely varying price points. Since I have no LHS nearby to go and look at these models, I have to ask here and hope someone can give me an informed opinion. If I buy an Athearn over a Bmann, what am I getting for the extra money? Is the quality that MUCH better....is the detail that MUCH better? What gives?
Need info on coal tipples.....scratch building plans etc.
And yes I've googled! I've been able to find pictures of coal mine tipples, prototype and models, but not really much in the way of plans or articles. Anyone know any online sources for HO scale plans of coal tipples? Anybody make any downloadable card stock models of them? I know that tipples are pretty unique and have a lot of variation so there is probably no wrong way to model them but any sort of "been there done that" advice that could be found elsewhere or given here would be helpful.

microscale passenger cars for tight radius
I am trying to remember where I recently saw an article with instructions on how to reconfigure microtrains n scale passenger car trucks so the cars would operate on tight radius track. Does anyone recall seeing the article and where?
Appreciate the help

The Helix
The Helix...
Every 180' each set of tracks gets a feeder. I used short drywall screws to hold the sections together. No Glue.
