Installing surface mounted LEDs in my DCC steam locomotive

I am working on installing DCC in my engine and using surface mounted LEDs (SMD) as lighting. I am installing them in the headlight, classification lamps, cab light and firebox light.

To reduce the number of wires from the tender to the engine, I decided to use 2 decoders, the first decoder is a light only TCS FL4 decoder. This decoder will go into the smoke box. The second decoder will be a Tsunami and it will go into the tender.

DCC locomotive installations

I look forward each month to Bruce's DCC articles.    I'm waiting for a "how to" article on brass steam locomotive installations.

The value of JMRI

These are a handful of posts regarding JMRI; in fact, one in response to my post on dynamically setting CVs for accel/decel based on loco location.

Relevant stats: I have a Digitrax Radio Empire Builder DCC system, an ever-growing collection of Tsunami decoders, and a reasonably new dedicated RR PC.

rti Railflyer Technologies Inc. / Traction Motor Based Drive MCU Non-Sound

Guys,

Attached is the specifications for our new motor control PCB.

It enables precision control of our traction motor based drive system, works on DC/DCC and Zigbee, has Li-PO battery integration and a prototypical LED based lighting system.

This MCU will be standard in our non-sound locomotive kits.

The fabrication of the boards for the second half the system is starting this week.  The first half is in assembly.  Programming will commence immediately.

May/June for the product release.

Stick-on Speakers

So, I came across this the other day, and found it to be QUITE interesting...

Very small device, yet, plenty of sound...

Advice RE: Buss Wiring

Good Morning

I need some advice on buss wiring.  My son left behind a half a spool of Phillips-Magnavox 16 ga speaker wire.  It is stranded, clear plastic coating, one side looks copper and the other side is silvery so I assume it is aluminum wire.  Would this be ok to use as a buss wire?  I hope so, as that will be one less thing to have to buy on my (very) limited budget.

Decoder Pro Tsunami How to Video

I made a video showing how to program a Tsunami Diesel decoder in JMRI
Decoder Pro or Panel Pro. Goes through all the steps on how to do it and what
my sound setups are. I am not a Decoder Pro expert but have programmed a
number of Tsunamis this way. Demonstration of sound changes with Reverb and
Equalizer plus all the basic sound and control CVs. Take a look. Video is
long and thorough.
