Mounting Walthers trucks on a TSP core kit

I have this ex-Southern RPO now retired Amtrak baggage car AMTK 1127 that I built with a Train Station Products core kit and Union Station Products car sides. The walthers trucks aren't a direct fit so I'm looking for ways to mount them. The bolsters on the TSP floor aren't tall enough to support the trucks which have a sort of countersunk mount. What sort of fixes have you guys found for this? Thanks in advance.

Looking to modify truck center on Athearn bluebox frame.

Hello, new to these forums and look forward to all the information in here. I have been tossing around the idea of an Amtrak GP40TC which use an SD38/40/45 frame but on 4 axle trucks. I was wondering if anyone has ever modified the frame length or changed the truck center on old athearn blue box frames? Seems like something that would be able to be cut and graphed together.

Coal Loads

A short post about making cheap and easy coal loads.

A New Beginning, Chapter 1

Hello friends. It's been a while since I posted anything but it's been a busy fall. Retired Sept 30. Wife retired 2 weeks later. We packed up and moved from Florida to Michigan at the end of October. Been getting settled in ever since. Ordered my benchwork and that should be here in 2 weeks. Also ordered all my track that I will need to build the new layout. Got most of it this weekend. The rest will be here this coming week. One disappointment though. I ordered a glass top work table that will roll under the layout.

Scratch Building the Great Western Loveland Wet Hopper

The penultimate structure to be added to the model Great Western Loveland yard is the wet hopper used to unload beet cars, usually hopper cars or drop bottom gondolas.  Since there are no commercial HO model kits even remotely similar, I needed to challenge myself and scratch build it.  The comments below show the process and the current status.

Boxcar Roof Weathering

Are all boxcar roofs plain galvanized metal or are most painted to match the car. Trying to prepare to weather several cars and can not find decent pictures of roofs.

Making Lasercut Freight Cars

So this is a thread where I am going to show some of my experiments and also see if anyone has done this too. I am going to attempt to make freight cars only from lasercut wood. For my first project I going to try a gondola and eventually a boxcar also. I am not sure how well this will work out but I want to try and form a long block train and feel like this will be the cheapest way to do it easily.

Styrene banding on strip tank cars. Having some issues?

I have a set of 6 tichy tank cars on my bench.

Im on to the banding that wraps the tank. It is made from 1" x 4" styrene strip. The issues im having is when i glue and apply any pressure to the straps they are snapping. even if the band has set all the way around the tank it is getting cracks in in and flaking off.

I hvae only done this on one car at the moment but im curious if anyone has experienced this with thin styere or could it be something to do with the age?

Im using Zap CA to glue the joints.

replicating an excursion

February 22, 1953 was the only time that the Pacific Electric ran a PCC on the Santa Monica Airline. Fortunately for the Pacific Electric fan, there are at least two pictures of this, one at the West Hollywood freight station and one at the Santa Monica freight station.
