Modeling topic
What Are you Modeling?
I am new to this site, but I have asked this question on Model Railroader website.
My railroad is a fictional Class I Railroad, based in Evans (ghost town in reality), Illinois. It stretches coast to coast as well as the gulf Coast. Since I have a limited amount of space, I am modeling a compress branch line along the railroad line. The branchline at any time has about 22 diesel and 7 (3 are switchers) operating on the line to service the railroad customers:
-Quarry
-EAF mini steel mill
Question aboout those magnetic air hoses.
I can't find the article(s) about the self-coupling and uncoupling magnetic air hoses, they were posted a couple of months ago ?
My question: do they conduct electricity ? Need a simple way to pipe a low DC voltage from one car to another, without the need for manual (dis)connecting.
TIA
cheers, Leo
Building the Bronx Terminal Freight house.
That geometrical nightmare....
Next up in the construction of the layout is a project I have been putting off for some time, the "round" freight house. Not really round, its a 29 side nightmare.

Kitbashing a Railroad
One of the things I learned in the military and in life is not to be afraid to make a decision. That's because I know you can always make another decision.

Lesson Learned
After a combat tour in Vietnam, we wrote what are called "after action" reports so that lessons could be passed on for the future. The same is true for model railroading. As the "de-construction" moves forward (or should I say backward), there are some notable lessons to both be learned and passed along to the next generation. Here are some of my observations:
Weathered BN GP20 High Hood
This is one of my BN GP20s running on the Tacoma Northwestern Model RR Club's modular layout. The model is a HO scale P2k that I weathered with an airbrush, Bragdon powders, and weathering pens. Enjoy!
