Tools, tips and tricks
duplicating parts/models
Due my last move, I've been a few years without a layout and I'm always thinking of little modeling projects to keep me entertained in the meantime. I've bought a few kits that I can build that will be useful on a future layout I have planned, one of the kits is discontinued and has some broken parts. Its almost impossible to find new parts for as well. So one thing that I have considered is molding and making new parts after I saw a resin molding kit for sale. Any advice if I was going to attempt anything like this?
Fall Cleaning
Well it’s September already, I woke up to a cold rainy day, so it is down to the basement to get the layout running for the winter.
First step is to vacuum the track and layout.
Rail joiner installation tool
Hi Guys:
Having just slit my finger open installing track joiners, I am not looking for a tool to install the little things. I thought I saw one one time that was 3 way, held the joiner and gave you a surface to push on, but dont know where I found it
Thanks for the help

cleaning track
Hi Folks;
Seem to be developing a problem here -- probably related to the current high humidity in the area. My trackwork seems to be getting dirty quite rapidly -- to the point that locomotives wont run properly. I have a mix of atlas and Microengineering track. Ive been using a chunk of masonite to clean it but I'm wondering if thats appropriate, is there a preventative?
Thanks

Disassembly Pictures: Bachmann Spectrum 4-8-2 Light Mountain - HO
I've got an electrical problem with a Bachmann Spectrum I picked up a while ago (I know, crazy, right?). I tested the engine and tender out on other Bachmann Spectrum engines and cars (4-8-2 to 4-4-0 tender, 4-4-0 to 4-8-2 tender), and found electrical shortages in both the tender and loco. While I was disassembling the loco, I figured I'd take pictures during the steps, so I can remember where things are when I'm rebuilding it. Hopefully these pictures will be able to assist anyone else in their rebuilds.
Silver/Aluminum/Chrome Paint for Walthers Plastic-sided Passenger Cars
I've got a plastic-sided Walthers Budd baggage car and I'm looking for suggestions on a good matching paint for some patch-up work. Here's a stock photo of the car:
Get reaaady to rummmble: Chopper vs Chop-it
Hi.
I know this sort of question has no real answer, but I know I want to get either a NSWL Chopper (which one), or a Micro Mark Chop It. I'm just not sure which. Would those of you who have used either, or preferably both, please give me some pros and cons for each so I can make an informed decision. Price will have some bearing on my decision but will not be the only factor. Thanks in advance for your learned advice.
