Layout design
One Town Layout in 12' x 10'
The design bug caught me during the holidays and I started to think about a one town very early 1950s layout. Though this concept has probably no chance to see the light, I find the process amusing and I always learn something while doing so. I thought it could be nice to share it. Funnily enough, when designing this project, I quickly stumbled upon James Six's own layout thread which share many common traits. http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/31700
Six months in the Hobby, and my 8x4 layout is almost completed
Six months ago I began my journey in the hobby, since then I read many articles that are against 8X4 layout, in a few lines I will like to share my experience and support that this size is perfect for beginners.
The first thing that I realize that HO is the most popular scale with the big manufactures, hobby shops and even in youtube. Also that a good layout required some basic element.
Oak Park & Western Railway
I've started a blog over on Wordpress to document the background information and construction of my HO scale layout. I'll post brief updates on this MRH-hosted blog but the detailed entries will be at: https://opwrailway.wordpress.com

Interesting Track Plan, Castleville County
Interesting track plan of a layout that just appeared on ebay. There is a lot of train running possibilities on this relatively small layout (9.7 x 10.8). Thought it might be interesting to post, and solicit comments.
2018 HAPPY to start a NEW layout this YEAR
Happy New Year to all. Back in 2017 I was contemplating a large garage with loft for a big layout. After seeing the quote for just the bare bones garage and the adding in all the insulation electrical heating etc, I decided to not go that route. Instead I decided to make a smaller layout in the basement.
The End W&N v2
The last two pieces of W&N version 2 were scrapped out, the remains of the old Coatesville. The rail, switches, switch mechanisms, and spikes salvaged and 30" of one piece will be recycled as a temporary bridge between the staging yard and the layout. The rest went in the dumpster. Long live W&N version 3.
Enough of this actual layout building stuff, I now return you to arguing about the nature of the hobby.
Los Angeles, Pasadena & Cucamonga RR (HO Scale)
Hi all,
The new layout is officially underway. Following the design of a bigger layout for a future space, and using TOMA concepts I designed a layout for my current space which includes some key modules from the future layout along with some very few disposable modules.

Since my last post I had glued hydrocal rock castings to the mountains on the newer section and colored them after having glued the tunnel portals and retaining walls in place. The next set of photos shows the progress.
This is the newest section I mentioned in a previous post with the mountains and portals in place.
Mortonville
As soon as Op Session #5 was done, it was time to work on Mortonville, the station immediately south of Coatesville. Originally I had planned to make that area Chadds Ford and include the PRR interchange there, but the only way to configure it would have resulted in a train having to foul Coatesville to work Chadds Ford and that didn't seem a good plan, so I changed the location to Mortonville, the first station south of Coatesville so intruding on Coatesville would at least be logical.
