Final Track Layout - Sunset and North Eastern RR
Here is the final track layout for the terminal board.
All of the track is laid but only the main yard and the fiddle yard are wired up so far.
In case you are interested, this was drawn in Adobe Illustrator by tracing over a photo of the layout. I stood on a chair and looked down! Here is the original(not full width as the lens wouldn't stretch that far)
One to one scale
So what do you do when you are a modeler that can't model because of current circumstances? In my case I try to rail fan anytime that I can to get my "fix". Recently I was in LaGrange, KY as I was visiting my family. I went to LaGrange because the CSX main line runs right down the center of Main Street! When I say middle, I mean middle as the tracks are embedded in the asphalt.
What is it With Kids These Days?
It seems only natural for parents to try and influence the decisions of their children. As children, we reach a point where we usually consider our parents to be… well, lets just say, ‘less than intelligent.’ At that time in our lives, we know EVERYTHING, and are vociferously open about it! By the time we reach our early twenties, we discover that our parents, perhaps learning from our example, became pretty darned intelligent in just a few short years! Thus is the case, I believe, with model railroading.
Stone Walls
As a damn (proud) Yankee, one of the things that often defines the North East, and especially my home (which is also the area which I'm modeling) are (field) stone walls. Long before some states were, well, states, folks in the North East had cleared their lands, and used the unfortunate primary crop from their fields (stone) to create walls.
These walls were used to mark out the field, and also as property markers.
Engineering lesson from the past; from Timber to Touch Screens
I've been reading about Shays again, and it got me thinking..
Building - new house, "bonus room", and a layout (Did build) UPDATE
August 13, 2012
Discovered this magazine a few weeks ago and promptly subscribed. A great resource, especially good knowing that Joe started it. I first became acquainted with Joe's musing, blogs and website several years ago. I subscribed to the CD series and have thoroughly enjoyed learning from them.

Keeping Momentum
As I continue to formulate a history for our two free-lanced pikes, the White Water Western and the Arizona Pacific, my boys are itching to get started. Admittedly, my attention span is a bit short at times, but nothing can compare with that of a six and nine-year-old boy.
NKP 765 Film
Here is a video taken by one of our club members, Mike Forshey, of 765's return to its home in Indiana. He also sent along some shots from the photo contest which, unfortunately, was canceled but some postings were made to Facebook. Enjoy.
An afternoon project
After digging through the piles on my workbench looking for a part that I KNEW was there somewhere, I finally got frustrated and did what I've been meaning to for quite a while now. I cleaned up my mess! It didn't take anywhere near as long as I thought. One tip, if your workbench is this bad: Get a card table and move all your crap over there, so it's easier to sort.
