Locos - Rolling stock (general)
Steam crane kit
Looking for a kit of a HO scale steam crane. Would prefer a crawler but car mounted would work also.
Really ?? Almost as prototypical as a Florida East Coast rotary Snow Plow!
Where did this idea originate?
Athearn #29270 Streamlined RPO, Amtrak/Phase IV #1808
Phase IV (a few years back) RPO ? The last RPO was about 40 years ago (closer to 50).
Have you any other examples of Currently Produced absurdities?

I am asking the MHR community for some help in solving a problem I created with my choice of layout scenery. My layout was originally conceptualized 25 yrs ago as a much smaller layout with no intention of adding a backdrop or anything like that. I started this current version with the old idea then expanded it because I had the room to do so. Although I do plan on adding a backdrop at some point, I didn't take this into consideration when I stuck with the basics of how I originally thought the scenery would look.

When I last posted I had just completed adding rocks to the newest section of my layout. I flew to CA for vacation on 12/27 and am still here now in LA on business until Feb. Of course that means I don't get to work on the layout but before I left I took a few more photos to share after I had colored all the remaining white plaster with Woodland Scenics earth pigment. It really makes a huge difference. Even without grass or trees the layout starts to look more realistic.
Athearn Blue box frame
When I bought this about two years ago it was an abortion, a Bachmann BQ23-7 shell on this frame #38018. Any ideas as to which Athearn shell is supposed to be on this frame number? It doesn't match any of the other frames I have. Divided fuel tank, high mounted brake cylinders, Air tanks in front of fuel tanks, just below front fly wheel.
Scales out at 58' long. coupler mount to coupler mount.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

San Antonio & Aransas Pass (SAAP) Railroad
Hello everyone and Happy New Year! I am volunteering in the Milam County Railroad Museum in Cameron, Texas. We have a layout depicting both the Santa Fe and the SAAP back in the 40's. I am looking for model cars and locos plus any photos, artifacts etc pertaining to the SAAP.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Dan
Winter Break 2017-18 Progress
Although I'm more one to post how-to blogs than updates, I thought I'd try to combine the two to some degree here today as I have about a week until I go back to college. I've had about three weeks off now, but unfortunately many projects only get about 50% done until I realize that I don't have an essential tool or part to complete the job.
Atlas?
I've been sitting on an order for about 3/4's of a Year now from Atlas. It's a Trainman GP38-2..what would be my first DCC locomotive. I already have the NCE Powercab wired up and ready to go but still running my DC locomotives with an old Model Power DC pack and a toggle from DCC to DC.
Here is Atlas's cheap looking web page for Container deliveries: http://www.atlastrainman.com/tmordership.htm
Prototype info on Accurail car
We're looking to see if anyone has assembled prototype info on Accurail's 36' double-sheathed wood box car?
What can you tell us?
